I think you have them mixed up there - Tiger is well refined and stable. Leopard is unfinished.

I think the point that people have been trying to make in this thread is that that's not the case for everyone. Many people (myself included) have experienced fixes and improved operation using Leopard over Tiger. Yes, others have had the exact opposite experience, but Leopard is now on its third major version after two point updates. Tiger got 11 point updates ever...if you want to wait for 10.5.5 or even 10.5.11 for full perfect stability that's fine. But for those of us who are utilizing new Leopard features, not having any problems, and in some cases finding Leopard fixes things that didn't work in Tiger, running Leopard now is the right choice for us. To each their own.

Whilst its not catastrophic for me i still very much prefer Tiger and have it installed on my main machine (iMac). I initially upgraded to Leopard but promptly downgraded within a few days and have been happy ever since. On my BlackBook however, i have Leopard running and for the most part its 'ok' and even more so with the 10.5.2 update.

Would i prefer to run Tiger on it...absolutely but i cant. However Leopard on it as i said is 'ok'.

But to be fair Leopard is still in infant stages so i guess we just need to give it time to mature

Not in my experience on multiple machines. Gave up on Tiger at 10.4.9... constant lockups, all sorts of network flakiness.

Installed Leopard on three very different machines the night it was released... no problems since. I tell folks that the speed, features and stability will each justify the upgrade... all three more than justify it.

The only problem I've had with Leopard was fixed with 10.5.2, and that was with the X11 bug. I agree that it's a very vocal minority that's having the most troubles, because the primary purpose of this forum is to help people with problems and figure out how to do things. It makes perfect sense that only those people with problems will post, for the most part. There's no reason to make a "everything's working fine" thread unless it's a reaction to a new update or something (and there IS a "10.5.2 works great!" thread).

I have Leopard running on my own and my girlfriend's MacBooks, and other than the X11 bug (which got fixed in .2) we haven't experienced any problems whatsoever. I much prefer Leopard to Tiger now. I only wish they'd kept the translucent menus.... (see other thread...)
