So near 50. Family torn apart ages ago. No gf, no kids. Lost my job time ago. The job brought in cash but after the work loneliness was what was left. My friends from before have their lives and no longer reply. Gave social media too long a try but after all they proved to be an illusion. Guess my life is over.
There are some good advices given here in this thread.
I will chime in, because I also was in a somewhat similar situation.
One day I realised I had less than 2 years before I was 50. I decided I would not go on after 50, as I had been struggling long enough.
I migrated to Sweden in 1990. The first ten years were great, so much to learn. Language and culture etc.
Next ten years was spent trying to find friends, and possibly a companion.
The next decade was tough, as I really started to miss having children. And researching my ancestry was amazing, but also leaving me with a feeling of being a broken off branch. That was not going to be part of the tree of life.
So I started making an effort in helping my youngest half-sister who was a single mother with a son. That carried me through the next 8 years. Until our mother died, and she fought us to capture the inheritance to herself.
The last 4 years, I have made a few really good friendships with persons I shared profession with.
And then an old neighbour broke his leg during winter. He was 80 years old at that time. And we have become good friends, as he actually appreciated my help. And he has been helping me as well.
But I am planning to move when he is no longer around. Because then I will be back in the situation I was before.
My dream now is to learn to sail, and get a large boat. I have my goal set on an 80-foot sailing boat, permanently living aboard, and hopefully make a few longer trips with people who wants to live and sail on a boat for a few months at least.
I have no idea if this dream will come true. But I would love to share the experiences with likeminded people.
I will be 59 years old this winter, so this is my plan for life after 60 😆

It is a tough period you are going through. No doubt about that. But find something that can innstill a sense of purpose in your life. A life without meaning is not much of a life.
So find your ideal. Find a way to work toward a better life. It is the small things that count, little by little.
This reminds me, since I was a young man, I practise what has later been expressed in a movie.
