I never once said buy an iPhone
Right now

In fact you will find that the president of the USA buckled & caved.
Because if he never then the prices would have went up 😂😂😂

But they aren’t going up. Because like I said, no one knew what was going to happen. So all the panic buying was for nothing.

The only reason they are not going up in price is because the current president of the United States of America
Crapped himself

Oh yes they were going up with his tariffs and that is why he kept putting up the tariffs with no exceptions to begin with and then the Chinese went stuff you upped their tariffs and said we are not missing around.
Then less than a week all of a sudden there is now exceptions from the USA side

Oh the panic buying wasn’t for nothing it’s called manipulating the figures

I'm not here to argue with you. My point from the beginning is that people going out and buying stuff was stupid and to even suggest people go out and buy stuff is stupid because no one knew what was going to happen. Apple could have gotten an exemption, they could have absorbed the cost, or, like what happened, Trump could remove tariffs on certain electronics. People that rushed out and bought stuff that they didn't need because they thought they were getting a deal on it were complete morons.

Certainly. But in the face of price uncertainty, buying something you planned to buy anyway is not a bad idea, especially since you know the price isn’t likely to go down in the near future. It’s no different than buying something early to take advantage of tax benefits., IMHO. YMMV.

It’s not that people are morons
It’s maybe because they actually listened to the USA president that said that this I’m not backing down & china will pay
And a as consequence of that then people bought big ticket items.

Because if he never removed tariff increases on electronic devices then they would have had a price increase
So that is why trump buckled

I wonder if the rise in bond yields were the driver; as that will raise borrowing costs across the board. If so, that is China’s hole card, as the #2 holder of Treasuries they could self off and drive yields higher, further hurting the US economy. The question is how big a hair cut are they willing to take to get tariffs dropped to a level they find acceptable.

Exactly that is why the trump administration can’t win against china
Plus as companies like Apple have outsourced their products to be built in china it has allowed the Chinese to become dominant in that field.
That is why the trump has suddenly given electronics an exception because everything would have went up in price & he would have gotten the blame off everyone in the USA

The increase in bond yields was Trump's first canary in the coal mine moment last week. That's when his big money backers smacked him over the head and ordered him pause his tariff tomfoolery for 90 days. Destroying the dollar as the world's reserve currency was not what they'd paid for.

It was probably Trump's idea to keep the China tariffs in place just to avoid looking like a complete loser. The fallout of that was we all got to witness the sad little poker game between Trump and China with Trump huffing and puffing and bluffing his little heart out. China rolled its eyes and stood firm.

Last night's panic announcement that technology imports from China is now excluded from tariffs (with "more details to come Monday" - how panicked does that sound?) is when the curtain fell and the world saw that Trump had no cards, no clothes and no brain.

Unfortunately, most of the people who voted for him, don't even know what this means or care! And that is the problem.

Maybe lesson learned…simple solution: don't trust this moronic president. And better not only on this subject.
Just never.

Well, Trump changed his mind AGAIN, and iphones will not be exempt and will be hit with a different tariff after all, Trump announced yesterday. Basically, iphones should go up in price this year.

Patience is exhausted. I don't believe anything this Administration says now. Here's what Lutnick actually said

"So what [President Donald Trump's] doing is he's saying they're [smartphones] exempt from the reciprocal tariffs, but they're included in the semiconductor tariffs, which are coming in probably a month or two. So these are coming soon."

"in probably a month or two". Probably? Seriously? Weasel-words if ever I heard them.

Lutnick has no idea what's going on. None of them do. There's no plan and no communication. They're all just making stuff up to sound important in TV interviews. Like a plague of mini-Trumps. All confidently lying.

I'm done listening to any of them.

I’m not sure the one making the call is really the one making the call.

The whole thing stinks. Reminds me of the UK “cash for questions” affair, but upgraded to something resembling “cash-under-the-table-for-US-policy”. The history books will be interesting.

That is an interesting question. We’re in a new paradigm with revisionist history. Trump will probably go down as a footnote that only students of history will know about.
