It's the other kook, Navarro.Assuming that Trump is not capable of strategy, who is pulling his strings? Bannon? Musk? Someone whose name won't even resonate in a public forum? Someone from another country, possibly an enemy country?

And now caved in on everyone else because "countries were lining up to kiss his behind" - except that he got very public pushback from Canada, Mexico, Japan and the EU, which has just slapped on another 25% on US imports. Can you say pump and dump? Also, it was a roughly 40% increase in costs based on a 54% tariff on goods from China. Trump has now raised it to 104%.
If as what’s being reported then based on calculations they will raise prices now if what’s previously been said that it would put over $500 dollars on every iPhone in the USA then Apple as a company won’t do that because it would then kill their sales in the USA
So what is more likely to happen is they increase the price by 100 worldwide and then that will cover the majority of the tariff charge.
Exactly that's why I buy outright now. In Australia they slap 60$/month minimum on contracts which is stupid. If you want a spare phone or a new phone, buy now. Nobody knows how the tariffs will hit. You sign contracts with telco companies, who says they don't pass down the increases to consumers. Of course they do!
One thing I'm sure of is prices will increase on the 17s with no new vast improvements, so get these 16s if you need a phone. Everything is getting more expensive and with a tariff, ppl will freak.
Is it shipping from China? Be interesting to see how if the shipping tracking shows anything different, though I again assume you won’t pay a penny more.
Will give an update as soon as I find out. Order is still in the processing stage.
Fair trade, not free trade. If they lower their tariffs, the U.S. tariffs will be lowered accordingly.

That's hilarious since the US Tariffs were set based on trade deficit and have nothing to do with tariffs charged on US goods. You bought the lie. LMAO.
Yea, I bet if the EU said "we'll reduce all our tariffs on US goods to 0 if you do the same for all EU goods,' the US would turn down the deal despite their rhetoric. They already turned down a partial 0 tariff deal from the EU.
The corresponding price drop in EU goods would likely result in a higher market share for them in the US, at the expense of US companies, than the market share of US companies' goods in the EU.
The argument would simply turn to some other issue to try to justify why they turned down the deal, such as regulations.
It also appears the trade numbers ignore services and focus instead on goods only, last time I looked at the numbers; which skews the picture.
While everyone is talking about the future pricing of Apple products as a result of the Tariffs. I can only assume that these price rises will be in the US only. As far as I am aware taxes on China from the EU and the rest of the world remain the same. It will be hilarious to see American tourist lining up at Apple store overseas to pick up iPhones. The other issue I think is interesting, I heard Peter Navarro talking about VAT in the EU as a tax on USA products. He is either deliberately spreading disinformation or is misinformed. VAT in Europe is essentially a sales tax and does not discriminate on the origin of a product. All sales are subject to VAT including locally manufactured products. Europeans would love to see VAT reduced but please try not to muddy the waters with false information.
The whole EU economy is smaller than the US, China's is smaller as well.
Now with the tariffs, the US will fix the balance of the economy.

I know you are being sarcastic but Navarro is an economist too. This fact contributes to the farce of his opinions. What? A politician made misleading or false statements? I am shocked.

Very true, even if he is a saltwater economist.
Ok can you give me a name of any in support of these tariffs?
Well what we do know is exactly what Canada has just said that electricity will go up for every American by $100 extra a month as a consequence
We also know that when companies pay minimum wage & are told to increase it then prices go up as a consequence of it coming out of profits
Even Warren Buffett has said prices will go up but then what does he know about that

I never once said buy an iPhoneGo out and buy Lol, prices are going up!!!
That's why you don't react to speculation and nonsensical media that tries to scare you into buying.
