that's over 8 hours battery life if you lose 1% every 5 minutes.
Also, those Apple estimates are from doing that function ALONE. Not 40 hours AND 10. Just 40. Just 10. etc
Hard to say I do something different with it every day and like today I left it I a cold car for an hour. But right now I have 2hours and 1 minute of use and 8 hours 47 minutes stand by and I'm at 74%. I was on wifi for probably half the day. and all I have been doing with it is mac rumors and flappy bird and some email so just normal phone stuff
Well for now as soon as it try's to play a real game it drops at terminal velocity. But I do need to give it credit it's one year old so it's doing pretty good. But I do every thing I can for it like let it die very month cuz some how that's suppose to be good for it. But the brightness on it is a little lower then normal today.
There is zero stopping you from going to a any retailer and using the 5c for half an hour browsing, playing a game that is installed, playing some video trailers, etc. Most in Apple stores are fully charged, remove the connector and have at it.
Here is my tip to guarantee you fix your battery life problems:
Go in to Settings. Turn off Battery Percentage.
There! Enjoy your now fully boosted battery without obsessing over the percentage all the time.

Unfortinately as nice as it sounds and as much of a placebo effect that it has for most, it kind of becomes less useful in somewhat more important times like when you are below 10% or even 20% and you just doesn't quite know if you only have a percent or two left or more to perhaps be able to complete an important call or compose an important email or you are waiting for a call or a message. Those are the times when that is quite handy.
cause everyone is saying its not gonna last longer then the 5s and its ios and im a retard and i dont listen. i have 3 hours of usage and 8 hours standby and im at 64% thats extremely poor. it goes down 1% like every 6 texts. 1% every 2-3 minutes browsing the web or a 2 minute youtube video. I understand battery going down while playing games. I just dont udnerstand how some of these people are having 16 hours standby and 7 hours usage at 50%. also earlier today my buddies phone was 2 hours usage 9 1/2 hours standby at 77% while i was at 1:45 usage and 4 standby with 83% left. how is he so much better?
3 hours of use and 8 stand by at 64% is amazing. No one has 50% after 7 hours of use and 16 hours stand by. If they did those 7 hours of use is their phone sitting on a table with the brightness all the way down and atou lock off so all it does is display the home screen. No other way they have that kind of battery life. And your 83% vs your friends 77% is because everyone uses their phones diffrently. That's good battery life and nothing to worry about.
There are different types of usage. For instance, 1 hour of surfing the web is not going to use as much battery as 1 hour of watching video.
As has been said many times, stop comparing your battery to others. You'll always have different usage, therefore the comparison makes absolutely no sense and doesn't mean anything.
Your battery life is fine - in fact, it's very good. You really need to stop worrying. Also, why bother to create a new account on here...

Something wrong with your iPhone since mine is much better.
Actually the battery of the iPhone 5S is a little bit better than iPhone 5C (and a lot better than iPhone 5 under iOS 7)

Actually under iOS 7 my iPhone 5S lasts at least 1hr 30 mins usage time more than my former iPhone 5 ....
