2011 was the year that I was on almost every darn Mac model (mini, Air, Pro (x2) and (2010 iMac) ) but I cannot wait to dump my Late-2011 MBP even though it's got every last upgrade it could, for an Ivy Bridge optical-disk-FREE(!) MacBook Air or Pro with (hopefully) "Retina"-like screen resolution and pixel density. It'd be even sweeter if Apple could make them IPS panels, or at least make IPS an OPTION!?!?! Hello!?!?

Who knows...Intel also said that a small amount of Ivy Bridge processors might just be launched on time in April, but either way, I can't wait. Anticipation is half the fun, though! :)

I am really happy with the performance and overall package the 15" 2.4 i7 offers there will always be something better coming. The performance compared to my 08 machine is literally "night & day" and will serve me well for several years.

I also have a 2011 13" i5 Air and it too is a great performer, if the 2012 Air gets a big jump I may be tempted just be able to have that little more flexibility on the road

I figured the late 2011 was a beast. I just want to see what's around the bend, especially since I don't have an immediate need for a new laptop. Also, I'm not entirely certain that my battery is dieing now, I think it's just my battery expectations due to my iPad2 :D

I won't be upgrading until at least Haswell chips come out.

Ivy Bridge doesnt sound like a major leap except for the fact that it will bring USB 3.0.

I'm looking forward to Haswell lasting longer on batteries, but I also hope the CPUs wont produce as much heat and therefor keep the laptop quiet.

If Haswell doesnt show a significant performance boost, I'm going back to owning a real computer; Mac Pro.

Get a Mac Pro while you still can. It hasn't seen an update since mid-2010 and in today's "tech time gone by", that's an eternity. There are a lot of people who think that it has already seen its final update and that it is scheduled to be EOL'ed this year, or receive one last update. (EOL=End of Life)

The Sandy Bridge updates to the MacBook families have been the most significant in years, which gave us SATA III (6Gbps), for example, a feature that has not even been mentioned or advertised by Apple. The higher end MacBook Pro models released in 2011 gave us screaming fast notebooks that generate Geekbench scores well north of 10,000, and have tested faster than all but the most recent edition of the Mac Pro and perhaps one additional refresh before that. ;)
