Has anyone seen the Ebene Barmenia in person? Is it as nice as the Fauve Barenia?

Any thoughts regarding the deployment buckle? Worth the additional $$$ or a bit of a gimmick?

Well I think you dont have enough money is what I was saying :)

You can have enough money and still do a calculated evaluated decision on whether your money is a waste or not. That’s his right.

The other stuff. This thread has been a rare old school MR thread without rancor , drama or fights. So much good info and discussion. It’s be great if it wasn’t derailed. Let’s just be happy that he is treating himself to a nice watch. Post pics here ASAP OP.

Deployment buckle looks great btw and if it fit my wrist I’d go for it. Why? There’s some technical knowjow there. You may be able to find a rip-off watch strap that does 80% of what Hermes does. It’ll be very tough to find a knock off deployment buckle. You may like it better just for that reason. Value for money. Go for it. At this point it’s not that much more. Enjoy

It’s supposed to help preserve the leather as you don’t need to bend it as much when openings and closing. Whether this is a non issue is anyone’s guess. I do like the buckle but I also think that $200 dollars is pretty steep. Especially as it can’t be seen when on?

It makes putting the watch on easier and faster, plus prolongs the life of the strap as the leather is not as stressed. But the deployant has to fit you. If it doesn’t fit you then too much of the deployant buckle ends up on the side of your wrist. It’s meant to be on the bottom of your wiring. The buckle is even curved to contour the bottom of your wrist. With the deployant buckle you the benefits of a bracelet and a leather strap. IMO, it’s worth the extra $200 if you wear the AW every day. Lower chance of dropping AW as it’s looped around your wrist as you put it on. In comparison putting on a regular traditional buckle is a pain. Deployant looks better too IMO.

Thank you.

Interesting regarding figment. As I’m not able to try before I buy (nowhere locally stocks the Hermes, let alone the deployment buckle) I think I’ll just go for the non deployment option.

That leaves me with Fauve Barenia as the only option.

My bad then. Sorry mate. I got burned a couple of weeks ago in a mad crazy thread here and this one had been really fun. Ok!! Back to watches.

My fav Hermes bands are the rallye with holes and the blue tattoo one. Seem to really be unique. My wrists are so frigging skinny that the others would look either absurd or be hidden.

And while I prefer the 42 I’ll end up getting a 38 for this model to let the strap show a little more.

If they just had always on faces this version could really look like a proper watch and not a little tv sitting on my wrist.

I have small wrists for a guy and I don’t think the deployment buckle would fit me. It looks identical to the single tour once you have it on. I also read that the buckle still creases the band like the single tour does, just at a different location. There’s less bending back and forth I suppose.

Have you thought about the Indigo Swift or you like the Barenia leather more?

How sad is this ? Not only did y’all convert me over to the Hermes gang I’ve even picked out a SECOnd strap. The feu (just call it orange) one. Don’t remember the exact name but it’s now available as an option. Looks superb !

I’ll be able to give it one more cycle and then jump in. A used “classic” ceramic will tide me over till then. After thinking about it I realized that I don’t avrually even need lte on my watch. If I don’t have a phone on me it means I don’t want to be disturbed period. Including a watch. Prices on used series 2 ceramic whites are absurdly low right now. Some of them even have Applecare +! This way even if the form factor changes no big deal I’ll look at the ceramic as an old classic look and get the new tech changes through the Hermes. Hermes I definitely want to buy new. If you’re paying for the experience you may as well enjoy the bloody experience !

Is it easy, hard , even possible to pair two watches to a single phone ?

I think you’re right regarding the deployment buckle. I think I’ll give it a miss and spend the money on AppleCare instead.

I’ve never been one for Navy so I ruled the Indigo Swift out at first glance. When I was looking last year I decided on the Fauve Barenia. I like the new Ebene Barenia but as it’s not available with a normal buckle so I’ll have to rule that out too. May be I can get that band at a later date. The black leather with white stitching looks really classic, will no doubt wear well and be relatively resistant to staining unlike the Fauve.

The simple answer is that neither of those versions are worth the money. But this is always measured on economies of scale. What I consider wasted money, someone else has in abundance.

Arguably this is the case for all Apple products, doesn’t stop millions of people buying them though.

The question was really aimed at current owners from an additional functionality/spec vs additional cost perspective.

So you’re gonna wait and but a S4 Hermes? That’s strong will power after all this discussion hehehe

I LOVE the Feu Epsom and might buy that for myself for Xmas
That’s the plan :) indulge my wants and also my head and future proof a bit. I’m doing a lot of travel until March anyway and won’t be able to use the LTE. What I have now will tide me over

Not that strong. I’m already lookin for a used white ceramic :)

Where are you seeing the prices low for the ceramic used?

This is a forum for tech afficianados. In that forum this is a thread about designer versions of tech. Not sure what this post adds.

Taking your logic the watch itself is a waste. iPhone also is a waste. Just use a 300 dollar Moto g5. Does the same thing.

There’s inherent value which may be low but there’s a perceived value which is entirely personal. Sure some people choose to live just with the basics of food water and shelter (not sure how they can post here) but I choose to make my life a little more beautiful a little more indulgent and if that means buying a ceramic or Hermes Apple Watch. So be it. As long as I’m not going into debt or stealing from someone it’s entirely my value my decision and my money “wasted”

With every new iWatch I always think of the solid gold edition. $10,000 for a watch that will be obsolete in a couple of years. As fast as technology changes any gold, or designer name leather band edition will only be relevant as long as the technology is relevant. I wonder has anyone bought a solid gold iWatch and then sold it to get an updated model? How much money did you lose on the sale?
