I can tell we're just going to have scintillating threads from MacAttacka going forward.

5 GB is fair considering iTunes content isn't counted against that total so it doesn't matter how larger your iPad is it matters where you get your content from.

Thankfully, Steve jobs knew all this before he went on vacation.

It's not "free", it's "inclusive" allowance. It's included in the price of the iPad 3. Higher capacity models should receive a higher inclusive allowance.
The iPhone 3GS, 4, iPad, iPad 2, and who knows how many iPod touches were all sold before iCloud came out. You must be REALLY freaking that those lowly buyers get iCloud.

Also, looking at this on a per device basis is lame. You buy a 64GB iPhone, but Sally buys herself, and two kids 32GB iPhones and they all share iTunes account. Based on what ridiculous logic do you feel you are owed more iCloud storage than they are?

Wouldn't each person get 5gb of cloud storage if they all had their own name?

Shouldn't I be asking you that question?

You could ask whatever you want, but if you want to crack corn, its usually the other way...The elitist way.

Edit: guys this is bad. I just took a elitist quiz....I'm not,an elitist?! How elitist of them!?

I have a better idea.

Let's leave stick to a 7% free allowance on all models.

64GB users get 5GB free
32GB users get 2.3GB free
16GB users get 1.1GB free

This is really good information. You should buy 2 iPad 64GB models and get 10GB of free storage.

i think you should get a greater allowance of storage for the more idevices you have - without having to create several .me accounts

Icloud works with my ipad 2 also. It is a free service based on your apple id not your device. Otherwise those of us who have 3 or 4 devices would have more free Icloud storage.
OP..btw, life isn't always fair.

You can but the point is that you pay a big premium for the higher capacity models and inherently those users need more space than someone who buys the barebones 16GB model. It's not if it would cost apple much to make the free allowance fairer.

In what world would Apple give up profits to give you a "fairer" deal?

5gb is more than enough for most people. I have an iPhone and an iPad that sync to my iCloud account and I'm not near the limit. Just remember how big 5gb is!

You know what they say about a guy that want's more GB's, he's making up for something else that's tiny.

I'm surprised that so many here haven't used much of their storage. I guess it depends on how you use the devices. For my iPod Touch and iPad I blew right through the 5GB, purchased 10 more and have only 3.5 GB available as of today. I have only 7.4 GB available on the 32 GB iPad - and that is after deleting a bunch of apps and issues of magazines.

I do have a ton of pictures that were uploaded via the camera connection kit, most of my music is from my own cd's and I figured out that my NYer magazines were eating up a ton of space. So I am on a mission to clean things up to free up space, but by the way I use the iPad I will probably always be eating up a lot of space. I don't mind paying for the iCloud storage - it is a great option.

This is all bs. And it makes many assumptions about what apple intended iCloud to be used for. Again, apple didn't need to include ANY free cloud storage, yet they did for backing up and restoring purposes. If you found another use, you can pay for more.

What I said was that Apple doesn't give away free space based on hardware purchases and that they hope people will feel the need to buy more storage space. If all that is BS, you're effectively saying Apple IS giving away free storage space based on hardware purchases and that they DON'T hope for people to buy more. I think even you know that's not correct.

I guess it's just your young age shining through again.

So who foots the bill? Apple? Uncle Sam?

When a company wants to sell a service, one of the best ways to get new customers is to offer a little taste of it for free. If Apple didn't assume they would make more business by offering 5 GB for free to anyone who wants it than by only offering the accounts you have to pay for, then they will offer 5 GB for free to anyone.

This is so basic, it's not even funny. I know I've made comments of your age before, but I'm starting to think I was right. What are you, 13-14?

Sucks being at the bottom, huh?

You would know...

The apps don't take up any space at all on iCloud (except for the settings files, which is basically nothing), nor do the magazine issues. The photos are though, and if you're often changing photos on your iPad the backup will increase in size rather fast...

But if you've got your photos somewhere else, you could opt to not back them up.

Until iCloud becomes less limiting, I'll pass. Free is irrelevant to me. Although not perfect, MobileMe served me far better. Pricey... Yes. But much more compelling than I find iCloud.

Perhaps once Apple has time, they'll apply their skills & ad more features & value to iCloud.

Sounds like elitist crap to me. Like saying that because I bought a more expensive car I should get better auto insurance or better rates. It's all just another way of saying "Because I have more money than you, I should be treated better than you."

This....enough said

Better than sounding communist, as you do. I treat people better if they have more money. They have more to offer and could pay for my services. That said, I got the 16 Gb cuz I'm poor. Though poor, I don't give a crap about iCloud storage. I haven't used more than 4gb of my iPads storage anyways. Poor people can figure it out like I have.

If I spent more, I'd expect better perks. If I bought their top of the line iPad, id expect some extras. If I went to an expensive restaurant, I'd expect more than good food.

You spent what? 400-500 dollars on a product that doesn't offer you food, water, or shelter? That doesn't qualify you as poor by any stretch of the imagination.
