Lol, the sun gives life to everything. It is the source of energy for everything on this planet.. it contains the most abundant form of Vitamin D. Just because you're a nurse doesn't mean you know about true health. You know disease management and how to make big bucks for doctors and pharmaceutical companies. Skin cancer is caused from all the toxic ingredients we're putting on our skin, NOT from the sun! Yes, obviously, too much sun is not healthful, just like too much of ANYTHING is not good for you. But THE SUN IS NOT TO BE FEARED. The sun is amazing and anyone who buys the ******** spewed by skincare companies about the sun being hazardous to our health is misinformed.
Absolutely clueless.

Cell phone radiation and UV radiation are totally different. And yeah, keep following the safety limits of the FCC and FDA. Clearly you know nothing about health..

What are you worried about? Whatever you're smoking will give you lung cancer first.

But seriously, this is stupid. If you're worried about radiation, don't go to the doctor or the dentist or ever travel. What's going to kill you? The aspartame in your diet coke might. Don't drink aspartame? There's a lot of other bad things out there. Want kids, don't drink water then, because the estrogen levels in ground water is increasing drastically. Same with in beer and bread and all other grain products. And obviously not soy either. Don't use plastic bottles because some trace amounts of complex polymer will get into your drink and kill you. Don't eat oysters, they're poisonous.

Actually, health genius, why don't you just stay inside and stop living and buy a phone made in the good ol' U S of A. Oh wait, you can't do that, we don't make them here.

Just to get this back on track...

1) Yes, I was talking about ionizing radiation and not electromagnetic radiation. While the second could not be proven to damage health, there is no doubt that the first one does (the higher the dose the worse). It is possible to measure gamma and beta radiation e.g. during border checks (given the huge masses of exports its very difficult to do that though) but it is not possible to check for alpha radiation which is more dangerous (e.g. the plutonium which had been leaked at fukushima).

2) Yes, Apple suppliers are situated in the larger nuclear disaster area and the iphone 5 screen for example will be supplied by japanese producers Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba (http://www.edibleapple.com/2011/11/...iba-sony-and-hitachi-already-shipping-report/) producing in this area.

3) There is very few information on the distaster. It seems that the government does everything to keep the situation "calm" (there was actually a secret plan to evacuate tokyo, this has become public only a few weeks ago; the plan was not implemented though because there were simply too many people; subsequently tokyo was very lucky the vents went the "right" way often towards the sea).

Anyways, in eastern Japan today about anything that is produced from something which was stored outside (e.g. raw materials) is radioactive (there were already radioactive crop, water, milk, cars, building materials, cell phone accessories etc etc)... Read just this exemplary article about "radioactive walls of newly built (!) houses / concrete"... http://inhabitat.com/radioactive-concrete-from-fukushima-found-in-new-japanese-building/
Any material stored outside during the disaster in this area is contaminated (depending on where it rained more intensely more or less ("fall out") with huge radiation differences/peaks)... A cell phone has about 4'000 components.... If produced in Japan 2011/2012 and maybe 2013 I suggest the probability that it includes contaminated parts is high... including :apple: :)

Can we get someone to test the Iphone 4s with a Radioactivity Detector and settle this once and for all?

The author makes a good point and its a likely scenario.

Good idea

That's a good idea... Note, however, that not more than 20%-30% of devices would be affected (contamination of raw materials stored outside is only present on the top layer; the contaminated material is then mixed with the rest during any production process, but it usually remains concentrated locally; i.e. many devices will not be measurably contaminated others could be a lot...

A measurement of single iPhones could help us to discover if the problem is present (as has been done for the iPad). But the only way to really ensure customers would be a systematic screening of gamma, beta, alpha radiation and certification by the producer & :apple: in japan.

The amount of electromagnetic radiation that the cell phone gives out while calling dwarfs any kind of radioactive contamination (assuming their is any).

firstly, i believe that the trace amounts of contamination that may have reached the components of the phone would be so minimal that it would be incomparable to the most minute radiation that the phone would radiate as it functioned. The fact is, all living organisms and any object that does work puts off trace amounts of radiation. it is neccasary for all living beings to function.therefore, i can conclude that if trace amounts of radiation did reach the assembly line of the iphone/ipod/ipad, the amount would be so minimal that it would be undetectable versus the weak radiation that all plants, humans, and animals radiate. if you are so worried about radiation, throw away your microwave, dryer, and air conditioner! i hope that this information has been helpful for you.

One of my friend said that the cell phones are emitting radio frequency energy, a form of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, which can be absorbed by tissues closest to where the phone is held. Could you please produce some more attachments about the topic.

Please check thread dates before posting on ones that you found by searching for certain topics.

This thread , for example died almost a year ago.
