I still use 5s. Only reason I'm upgrading is it's a 16gb and I'm constantly micromanaging space on it. Got the 64gb and will probably be fine for a while. Granted I purchased through the upgrade program so no real harm in getting a new one every year.

The 5s is a great phone. My wife and I have had ours for just under a year and plan to keep them for at least another year or two.

How much of an upgrade performance wise was the 5S over the 5?

Huge upgrade performance wise.

Many would agree it was the largest performance "leap" out of any iPhone model, generation to generation though there is a strong argument for the 4 -> 4s performance leap too (especially with the GPU...)

I'm actually using mine right now, until I the 6S arrives (gave up my 6 plus.) It's still a very nice and solid phone. Its fast enough for what I use it for (reddit, forums, twitter, etc.) Battery is actually comparable to some of my android phones, I get about 3-4 hours of actual use with 10-12 hours standby.

I still have one, and although the battery is a little weaker than it was when I got it, I'm still not planning on upgrading it since it's still pretty fast and does everything I need it to.

If I charge with my portable battery I get longer life out of the charge vs plugging into the wall. You should try that.

I'm happy with mine. I like the size and feel of the 5s better than the 6/6s

5s is still as fast as any other phone on the market in actual day to day usage (not benchmarks).
That's what counts.
The one thing where it absolutely stinks is battery life. Among the worst. With phones that's the equivalent of saying a person is a great athlete except for their ability to run. But otherwise he's superb. Fatal flaw? Probably.

Is the poor battery life due to the hardware or the latest iOS software?

Add me as one who still prefers a 4 inch iPhone. So I was luckily able to trade up from an almost 3 year old iPhone 5 to a 5 month old 5S for just $50. I feel like I got the deal of a lifetime.

So I'll probably wait for the 7S now unless the design of the 7 blows me away and I just have to get it. But I doubt it.

yeah it's still a fast phone. but almost all my friends who uses iphone 5s have a shading of yellow color on the edge of the screen, you can notice it clearly in a white screen like empty page safari or settings app. i think it appears after 2 years of use.

I find the display on the 5S a bit cramped. If Apple is to release a successor, something with smaller bezels and maybe a tiny bit larger size would be nice.

I was unsure if I was going to get the new 6S, but the presentation really didn't blew me away. I would like the new camera and two gb of RAM, but 3D touch is not that interesting. The 6S actually didn't bring anything that interesting to the table.

My 5S 64 gb is still a good phone. I remember when my 4S was two years old, the battery was horrible, the phone was sluggish and really slow. This is not the case with my 5S. It still feels snappy enough, the camera is good enough, the battery is still okay. I'm keeping mine for another year, hopefully the 7 will bring something more interesting to the table.

iPhone 5S is a great, fast phone. Remember, say 53 weeks ago it was still the current and best iPhone for sale. I actually gave one to family this past January. I use mine as an iPod in the evenings, and I like that size for use as a bedside iPod.

Honestly, I had mine out tonight doing a speed test, so I had it in more light, and it is one sharp looking phone too. Yes, it has a small screen, but it is a beautiful design and offers strong performance. I'm not surprised there are some people who prefer it to the iPhone 6.

By competitors standards (Android, Windows Phone) the 5s is still an amazing and remarkable device. But Apple has moved so far forward with the 6/6 Plus/6s/6s Plus that you really need to be rocking one of the newer devices now. I find iPhone 5s unbearable to use due to the smaller display, and all-round slower performance.

I would guess that a LOT of people still use the 5S; it's not even been out for 2 years yet, so there are still tons of people with them on 2-year contracts from back in 2013 (and 2014). Including myself.

The 5S is still a far better phone than when compared to the majority of the market, anyways. Even for those who choose to use it going into years 3 and 4.

I've contemplated keeping mine; but it just doesn't seem worthwhile when I'm going on another 2yr/unlimited plan and not having reduced monthly services costs. And the fact that I can sell my 5S for as much as I bought it subsidized...which also will be about the same price as the 6S that I'm getting.

The 5S is a GREAT phone. Still.

5s is still a great phone. I like the 4.7'' screen and glad I have an iPhone 6 but my wife is still using it and will keep it until I'll upgrade to iPhone 7 next year.
A7 still delivers great performances so if you can live with a 4'' screen is the best phone out there.

the 5s = classy design

It really is, I still love looking at my silver 5S! I want to just keep it and not sell it off. If I could justify hanging a $300 item on my wall, I'd do it; but I must let go and take the money and run!

The design of the 6/6S phones just look so...eh...passable. Those antenna stripes remind me of one of those stripe-lined old mens jackets or one of those old 60s station wagon cars with wooden panels.

The 5/5S design was pure, modern eye candy for sure.

Still very happy with my 32gb 5s, and still running the version of iOS that came with it (7). I may upgrade to the 6s plus this winter, will have to read some real world user reports after the release. Really, I don't talk on the phone a lot, so the idea of having a small tablet sounds appealing.
