I must be one of those crazy people that doesn't care what other people think about me. If you view my (or your) phone as a status symbol, I probably don't want to spend a lot of time with you anyway. I also love how the OP says it's not about the status, but then quickly backtracks and says it is. Grow up.

I dont think the Iphone is played out. I actually like the fact that many people
have it. It means more apps, more accessories, more videocalling, more themes, games, etc.

If you are not comfortable using something that many people have then change it for something no one has and be happy.

If it bothers you to have a phone that looks the same, try a case mod. I once saw a phone with a case made out of lacquered cherry wood. Another one I liked was made out of textured aluminum with custom artwork painted on. The iPhone 4 still has enough parts that are not made out of glass to customize. Actually even some of the glass could be painted, stained, or etched. If it gets messed up you just have to pay for replacement parts and labor to fix it. If it works you have something unique - possibly even a work of art.

However, desire is the root of dissatisfaction.

iPhone is not played out. However, the OP might be.

The internet psychologists will love this thread.

The OP will be crying like a new born baby next week when VZ makes the iphone announcement, opening the door for millions more iphone users. :D
