And that would make a X or XS a Luxury phone. The XR is nice, do not get me wrong, but I much prefer my X over it.

I doubt the average person who is not studying the BOM’s of these devices really cares or categorises these iPhones as ‘premium’ or ‘luxury’ to be quite honest. An iPhone is an iPhone to most people I’d say and judging beyond the brand or colour is about as far as the perception goes most of the time.

One question: How much does a new iPhone X cost if you buy it from Apple?
Truth! I see what you did there... if was the intent.

I am so sick of the X/XS/XR comparisons. The XR is a very premium feeling and looking phone.

OP, personally I would rather buy my Apple products from Apple directly over Best Buy (who typically charges an extra $50-100 on phones in my experience). I could care less about using a Best Buy credit card which I canceled once it became a card to use anywhere with same store level non-promotional APR...

But long story short, the X is discontinued and is not for sale at Apple anymore, so imho the only options are 7,8,XR,XS and XSMax. All are very premium and still very capable phones when compared to thousands of cheaper, plasticky options out there that often can’t even handle the camera app being open and crashes causing you lose the perfect shot:mad:. Never had that issue on an iPhone;)

It's priced that way so when Black Friday comes, consumers will think they're getting a big discount.

The vast majority of informed consumers will pick XR over the X for the larger display, faster processor, better camera and battery life.
The X has a better display and imo has the better camera because of the telephoto lens. I had the X and I’d rather have kept the X than upgraded to the Xr.
[doublepost=1542106682][/doublepost]I do think the X is more premium but to be fair apple don’t sell the X anymore so I don’t think it’s fair to compare prices.

I guess this silly argument is going to go in until September 2019.

The best device is the one that works for you. That does what you need it to do.

What I find funny is when the X, XS, XS Max owners start on their budget phone rants and people who like the XR speak their mind they are accused of needing justification. Shocking news to the masses. The XR fits the needs of many users regardless of the cost. I could have bought and XS or an XS Max. I'm not willing to let a few dollars a month make me settle for something I don't really want. My decision was based on.....

-Neither the XS or Max are available in 128gb. 64gb is not enough for me. And 256gb is too much. So that would be wasted money.

-The XS is too small and the Max too big. The XR felt best in the hand to me.

-I could give a rats ass less about OLED or the lower ppi of the XR. I don't watch movies on my phone and everything else I use it for looks just fine.

There you have it. Those are reasons. Not needing justification.

I don't know why people feel the need to try to make others feel inferior about their phone choice. Some people don't need the best just to say they have the best. And what is the best for one may not be the best for another. For me the XR IS the best phone for my needs.

I don't care if a phone is considered premium or not. I am about the features and what I personally like. For me, the Xs Max is the better phone.

And it's a shame more people don't share that same opinion. It's what is the best phone for you. Not what the specs say is the best phone.

Just because Apple is no longer selling the X does not mean it has hurt it's quality or performance in the least. I know many people who love their X and prefer the screen and stainless steel bands. The X is a darn good iPhone!

Word! What he (you) said. I guess they just feel the need to do so,for whatever reason.

Yes. OLED, 3D touch, dual camera, and stainless steel

vs

old LCD , old touch, single camera, and low cost aluminium.

XR was created to pinch pennies. It's the cheap device.

If you weren't told the band was stainless steel, you would not have known the difference.

Based on a lot of people's logic, given the 7+ was once the top of the line, "flagship" phone, it is more premium than the current XR.

Thanks for you words of wit. I was just pointing out the difference. As far as wear, I will take Stainless any day compared to softer aluminum, but that is just me. I am using a MAX now so it is irrelevant.

Since the X is obsolete, I'd have to say the XR is more premium.
How is the X obsolete? It's only a year old and if you slap a case on it and a Xs next to it, you'd never be able to tell the difference.

If you're basing this on the fact that Apple no longer sells it, I'd go with "legacy" before I'd call it obsolete. Sounds way cooler.
[doublepost=1542125761][/doublepost]
yeah, speed.
Speed difference between the two is negligible. The video below illustrates this. The iPhone X actually comes out on top in a lot of these tests.

Agreed,laughable at best.

And if you weren't told one phone has an A11 and the other has an A12, you wouldn't know the difference.
Agreed. It's also bright during the day and dark at night. Your point?
