An effort to not be ignorant is probably req'd then. If you try, I will.

Just curious are you an American? North American of course.

I'm still shocked to hear an answer that freedom isnt free. Just keep drinking your fluoridated water and let the bone cancer/ brain tumors grow on ya. Because I'm not ignorant, I'm staying away from cancer!

What are you even talking about?

I wonder if the new carbon tax that has been passed will drive up future macbook/macbook pro/mac pro prices even further.

I mean carbon is in everything, even the air we breathe. Its just a tax that Al Gore's company wants to collect.

Also there are talks about a VAT (20%) tax coming to the United States on top of the Carbon Tax (20%), after social security, income tax it adds up to 73% tax that the average U.S. citizen pays. Talk about slavery.

...and our tax code has more holes then swiss cheese. If you think any majority amount of Americans pay 73% tax you are mistaken. :)

I live in Oregon, USA. I own my well and is artesian - no fluoride.

The reason I work and pay taxes is so that myself and others less fortunate can enjoy this place, its my responsibility and I like my neighbors.

If you think freedom is free, you are dreaming.

Freedom is free. Were not paying taxes on carbon right now. But more and more everyday new taxes are pushed to enslaving us further.

Income tax according to the constitution states that we shouldnt be paying as the constitution in the 16th amendment saids that congress cannot impose no new taxes even after the 16th amendment was ratified. Also that wages should be taxed on only in corporations and not privatized trades.

Which income tax today is a trade, you work for someone and they pay you. Its a fair trade for your labor.

But the Feds created IRS to make sure we pay income tax and I do too because if I didnt I would get sent to jail right away.

Not to mention social security is a forced ponzi scheme.

All that says is you don't want to have to pay for your freedom. It isn't just money. Its time, effort, and consideration. As soon as you find something better, let us all know.

In a messed up sense I guess you are right, we live in a world where freedom is not free but it should be free.

Were getting enslaved everyday and most Americans have no clue and continue to pay a little tax here and tax there. Wait until it gets up to 80% where you have to pay taxes and cannot avoid them. We will see a revolution.

Sure working is fine it takes up your time effort and consideration but its a trade as any other goods. We shouldnt be taxed on it, the constitution states it.

But then again most Americans look at the constitution as an old piece of paper that means nothing anymore. And the courts just makes up their own laws as they go.

Were in a passive aggressive fascistic nation. Corporate and government merged together. Goldman Sachs, AIG, JP Morgan, Citi bank, Bank of America, Bear sterns, they all control the government via the Federal Reserve System.

The constitution begs to defer.

We do have to pay for freedom but paying taxes is the exact opposite of paying for freedom:

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which
is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the
facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ... And what
country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time
to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take
arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify
them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty
must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."

- Thomas Jefferson

And all of our founding fathers said similar things. But the USA and it's idealistic freedoms is nearly lost now. To regain it we will have to shed the blood of many patriots and tyrants - tho the modern term for tyrants and Nazis these days is "socialists".

But how did we get so far off topic? Lets do that self correcting thing where everyone decides to get back on topic. :D

Here, I'll start:

I think you guys comparing Dell to Apple aren't being fair. Dell is ALSO over-priced. And like Apple you have order bare bones and upgrade yourself to make any sense of their prices.

Comparing Dell to Apple is like comparing a whore to a prostitute. (anyone wanna formulate the punch line for that one?!?!? :D )

Nice quote but I like this one the best by woodrow wilson after he signed the oligarchy into the government which we now call the Federal Reserve.

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." -Woodrow Wilson, after signing the Federal Reserve into existence

Heh one more from Thomas Jefferson:

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

Ahem, Thomas Jefferson was truly a great man along with many others. Wow he predicted this like he was Nostradamus! I believe he's talking about the Federal Reserve system and their fiat currency (federal reserve note aka IOUS) which we call the U.S. dollar today.

Did you know that our dollar currently is worth 2 cents to the dollar of 1970?

Nice! But, what happened to the "Topic" part of my post? ;)

I agree though from your post that a revolution is WAY overdue now.

Only reason its postponed is because Obama is president. So they put a black face on a president and now all the black people/minorities that were on the verge of a revolution is just backing down.

Sooner or later everyone will catch on and its not about race its about his agenda. Obama has done exactly the opposite of what he said he was going to do immediately when he became president! Just take a look at his track records from his campaign and now, its a complete 180!

And he's further carrying out what bush has started, basically its another term from Bush.

Anyways the corporations fund mccain and obama's campaign they all work for the same oligarchy.

I'm just surprised many Americans dont realize how America has become a fascist nation. Its becoming more transparent though over the years. Wallstreet and government has now become one entity. All Goldman Sachs, Federal Reserve, trilateral commission, counsel on foreign relations in Obama's economic party. Same as Bush, Clinton, Reagan etc.. Kennedy was our last real president until the oligarchy assassinated him.

Here's the speech that got Kennedy murdered, he was going to abolish the Federal Reserve too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dOOFB8fs38 I think it was days after this speech that he was murdered.

Dude, what are you talking about? The 16th amendment only deals with stating that Congress can levy an income tax without apportioning it among the states... the right to tax is granted in article 1, section 8, clause 1...what the 16th amendment changed is that the tax levy does not have to be proportional to geography or population.

The -actual- text of the 16th amendment:
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

Oops, that's not the topic I was talking about... Do a refresh or something and re-read the bottom of #208.

Are you talking about Dell vs. Apple overpriced topic?

I think all computers are overpriced nowadays!

Where's my hologram in the palm of my hand that can able me to fly over to the next city!! I thought it would be here by now!

Here is a very simple explanation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6NfXk7Bvc8 Highly recommend watching it even if it is a youtube video.

While part of the premise in there is on line about the Feds printing devaluing currencies and the value of the dollar has change since not pegged to gold, the statement that the value of gold has not changed is not quite right and its not inversely proportional to the dollar value alone since '64. Gold's value is impacted by supply and demand. There's too many variables to simplify it as basically as that video did. The value of gold going up due to demand would increase the value of a pegged currency and create financial stresses for that currencies economy because it would impact that economies ability to trade. That's part of the reason fiat currencies came to be in the first place.

if you take out cost and say price you cannot express it any clearer. This is from the other thread on historical pricing. It is obvious that they have added some 800$ to their low end machine margin and 1300$ to the top model. That are impressive figures. I cannot believe for a moment that they had bad margins in 2008. So this really is overpricing from a customers point of view because they think they are in a unique position of inelastic demand.
