So last year the Magsafe Wallet came out and when I heard it could only hold up to 3 cards and cost $60 I laughed and thought no way.

I've had some back issues and a few years ago I found that moving my wallet from my back pocket to my front pocket actually made a difference. So my front left pocket is my phone only pocket and my right pocket was for my wallet and keys. As I'm sure a lot of guys can relate, I would go through the yearly ceremony of thinning out my wallet from all the collected business cards, club cards and receipts that I felt I wanted to hold onto.

This spring I decided I wanted to go minimal. I started to look at minimal wallets. When I thought about what I needed to have in my wallet, I would look at these wallets and just wish they could hold a card or two more.

I then started thinking about the Magsafe wallet. When I do have to empty my pockets my phone, keys and wallet usually sit in a pile and I thought it would be convenient if the wallet actually stuck to the phone. I then determined what the bare minimum I would need for when I was out on most days. I would need my license, a credit card and a debit card (I don't usually carry cash but if I ever needed cash). I could also rely on Apple Pay and other store apps to make digital payments so that would lessen my need for cards.

I picket up Magsafe wallet and I've found it's my favorite phone accessory. Since it's so minimal I no longer end up with wallet bloat. I'm forced to do something that day with any business cards or receipts I happen to get. It's so slim that it frees up pocket space and can fit snug to my phone. It's easy to pull out of my pocket without having to actually pull out my phone. If I don't happen to want it attached to my phone I can just put it in my other pocket and it still saves space.

When it is attached to my phone, I use a MagSafe case and there is no way the wallet is just going to randomly fall off. I would have to shake the phone really vigorously and actually try to make it fall off. I don't have any worry about it sliding off when I put the phone in my pocket. Again, I'd have to put it in my pocket in such a way to try to get it to slide off for that to even happen.

Someone mentioned about being robbed. I don't see what difference it would make if my wallet was attached or not to my phone, I always carry my phone and wallet on me either way.

Another benefit for those with the iPhone 13s that don't like that the camera bump can make the phone rock when on a table, if you have the wallet attached to the phone then it raises up the phone and it doesn't rock.

It might not work for some or some might think it's too expensive, but I'd gladly pay $60 again for the benefits that I've gotten from it.

I decided to order a cheap third party MagSafe wallet off Amazon to get a gauge of how safe I feel using a MagSafe wallet. I just couldn’t justify $60 on a card-sized piece of leather that might be less convenient by making me always worry about it falling off or by not being able to pull the cards out easily.

Update: so far, I really like the wallet. It sticks far better than I would expect it to. It's so nice being able to disconnect it whenever, store it in your pocket as a slim wallet while you use other MagSafe accessories, and then slap it back on to your phone.

I wouldn't pay an extra $40 just for the Find My capability. So far, I'm very happy with my decision to pay 1/3 of the price of Apple's MagSafe Wallet.

One thing to note is that with my case, wallet, and 2 cards added to it, it's increased the weight of my already dense iPhone 13 Pro by 90 grams.

So which wallet did you try? Got a link to share?

I've been seeing Authentic Apple Wallets at TJ Maxx stores for $30. These are the first gen. ones that do not support Find My.

They replaced my LV wallet, absolutely love them. Had to narrow down my wallet a bit but a year down the line i wouldnt have it any other way.

Doesn't work for me, I currently have in my "thin" Fossil money clip: Driver's License, Provincial Health Services Card, Bank Debit Card, Visa, Mastercard, Transit card, and Costco card. The Costco card can stay in my car for weekend grocery trips, but the other ones I would need to keep on me.

I think it’s great. I wish the “find my” was more robust, but I love the quality and functionality. Also if it fit one more card!!

Yes. I have been using since release day 2020 so almost 1 year. Never lost or misplaced it. If you become a bit mindful about your things you will have nothing to worry about. Who ever says you will lose it has a habit of not taking care of their things. If you think you like it buy and try it.

I just got one earlier this week. I have been using it with 3 cards and a $50 for EDC. I can use Apple Pay for almost everything other than Costco. I am still a bit paranoid not having all my usual cards on my person so still seeing how it works out after a couple more weeks.

Pulled the trigger and bought one today.
Here in Canada 9 on 10 business have Tap to Pay so i almost never need to bring my credit or debit card with me. Apple Pay for the win! I leave them in the car in my wallet. I only need a Government id, keycard for my car , and gym card! I usually never bring any cards on me. But with this pandemic and vaccine passport we need id to identify ourselves when showing vaccine passport.

Apple Pay (Visa) works at Costco for me. (and I use the app for membership proof)

Yes! Since I decided to go without a case, it is worth it! It sorta protects my camera bump on my mini while carrying a few important cards.

Absolutely worth it for me. Like many others, mine holds my Apple Card, my debit card and my driver’s license. I can squeeze a cash bill or two if need be but 99% of the time that’s with my backup wallet in my car, which holds everything I eliminated from my daily carry.

Hell no! Why would I give the thief my phone and my id/creditcards when he/she steals/robs me?

Huh? If they take your phone, they can easily steal your regular wallet too. But if for some reason you think a regular wallet is safer, then you can always remove the MagSafe wallet and put it in your pocket instead when you're walking through the bad part of town.

I’m following this thread. Great info from all who responded. I’ve been debating for a year now and finally ordered a cheap one off Amazon yesterday to see how I like it. If I like it i will purchase the Apple version.

Make sure to get a good generic one if you're going to try. I bought a cheap copy off eBay, and the magnet didn’t align correctly, and the top edge covered the bottom camera lens partially. Another option is to get the Apple OEM, and return it if you don't like it. I'm very happy with my Apple one.

What's easier to steal? A Wallet or phone? Someone can walk by as you're holding your phone and snatch it at any time, not just in "bad" parts of the city. Now not only is your phone gone, so is your wallet. Getting your phone replace is easier than betting your phone plus your CC and driver's license replaced.
