Carrier Is the main camera on the 7 and 7 Plus the same?

Hey guys, I wonder if the main camera on these 2 are the same? On the Apple website, it says:

Iphone 7 has 12M camera

Iphone 7 Plus has 12 M *wide-angle* and telephoto cameras

Now I know the 7 Plus has a 2nd telephoto lens. But for the main lens, on the Plus it has " wide angle" while the regular 7 doesn't. I always thought the main camera on these 2 models are the same?
