Something sounds off here because the model of the iphone 5s in the UK is different from the US. The UK version won't pick up at&t LTE.. They should not have exchanged it.

It was a 5, not 5s. Apologies. LTE worked fine when I got back to the US. It was locked at the time. Exchanged it at Brent Cross Apple Store, if you must know. :)

----------

The the UK store messed up. If you get an unlocked unit warranty replaced they are supposed to replace it with another unlocked unit. They did not.

Yes.

I never said my old iPhone 5 was unlocked. It was AT&T locked. The replacement from the Apple Store locked to the first SIM placed in it (in that case - O2).

Again, I'm not saying the T-Mobile 6/6 Plus is locked. I'm just looking for that 100% reassurance, especially given my experience in the past, and that my T-Mo 6 Plus just shipped. :)

Hi,

Can someone who has the phone try anther sim in it after they have used first one as to ensure it doesn't lock to first network sim that is placed in it.

I know some uk phones do this as I had personal experience.

Thanks
D

Anyone know if these will work with a VZW sim??

No they won't. Or at least not fully. You won't have CDMA functionality which is needed if you leave the LTE area....and it might not work at all. Not sure how VZ connects.

----------

I can also confirm that my device only ATT model purchased this morning is working fine with my Tmobile SIM.

this is my only question away from me to get a iPhone 6.

If I bought the T-Mobile one, when I get it back to Hong Kong I cannot use it? Is it because the frequency are different?
But there is no contract free for Sprint right?
thanks.

PS: I guarantee i'm not a reseller

You need to find out what frequencies your carrier uses and check these against the Apple site. I'm not sure if the carriers/frequencies in HK are the same as China or if there are different carriers/spectrum allocations.

Frequencies used on the 3 (Hutchison) Hong Kong network

900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
1800 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA 3G
1800 MHz FDD-LTE 4G
2300 MHz TDD-LTE 4G
2600 MHz FDD-LTE 4G

I found this on wiki, does that mean I will be able to use it? with the T-Mobile one?

if the number matches with the T-Mobile one, than its fine?

I bought a tmobile full price from apple being delivered today. I currently have Tmobile $30 cheap prepaid using on my 4s with a microsim. I'm planning on moving to AT&T mvno in the near future.

My concern is I will need to move my service over to the nano sim in the 6 since micro sim won't fit. I will start off using the Tmo service in the iPhone 6 but will this lock it to Tmo because I need it to stay unlocked to move over to AT&T? TIA

According to the above, your phone will work on UTMS (3G), EDGE (2G) and GPRS/GSM (1G) but not on LTE (4G). I believe TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE are different protocols than the traditional LTE found on the T-Mobile iPhone 6.

I did personal pickup for my TMobile iPhone 6 this morning from the Apple Store. I took out the TMobile sim and booted it up with my AT&T sim and it connected just fine.

Just a few minutes ago I tried putting the TMobile sim back on the phone and it connected just fine to the TMobile network. I then put my AT&T sim back and the phone and had no problems.

So another confirmation that the phone is unlocked.

I think that is an unanswered question at this point, but do not worry - my understanding is that even if the phone locks to T-Mobile, they will unlock it after 40 days of use on their network upon request.

See my post above, I don't think this will be a problem.

That is great....
I am waiting for my T-mobile no contract phone to use on ATT for now and later on switch to another carrier later on.

But was the t-mobile sim activated? If ii switch my Tmo prepaid already activated micro sim to nano sim will it then lock to Tmo with the non contract Tmo iPhone 6? I want yo be able to use more than one carrier.

And THAT was the confirmation I was looking for. Thanks much!
