They always say that it is locked but "Device only full priced" is unlocked. Yes, it will work properly and get 4G LTE in Brazil.

I have friends in Rio who want me to buy an iPhone 6 for them. But I have no way to get it to them besides me flying there to deliver. If I send in the mail they will add high import taxes.

Yeah, If you send to Brazil it´s going to be probably the same price they are going to sell here. Not worth it, I think. And maybe even my sister is going to have problems carring two iPhones back to Brazil.

And thanks for the response. I was really worried about it just have a pretty paper weight. XD

Have her open the boxes and carry the phones with her and keep the boxes in her luggage. If they ask why she has multiple phones she can say she is fashionable and likes changing the colors to match her cloths. :)

Last year I bought a full price device only iPhone 5s. I used it with TIM when I was in Rio.

Ok so let me get this straight.

I'm with T-Mobile and have found NO T-Mobile unlocked iPhone 6+ available at Apple.com for pickup anywhere.

So, I can also look for any AT&T 6+, order it "Device Only" and it'll be unlocked and ready for any GSM network?

Does anyone know the answer to this? My local apple stores seem to have ATT 6+, so are there any additional steps required to unlock it? (assuming I never turn it on w/ the ATT SIM)

The question has already been answered in the thread. Any AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon iPhone 6 purchased in an Apple store "Device only full priced" will be unlocked. If they do not have T-Mobile ask for AT&T or Verizon "Device only."

632 posts later, each asking the same question and getting the same answer, it's time to close this thread. Bottom line, you want an unlocked phone, buy the "device only" at the apple store or apple online. NOT at a phone company store. (And never buy a sprint phone under any circumstances). Enough. Stop. Close thread. No more questions. Buh bye.

I guess everybody was very helpfull here.

I'm still worried about the iPhone 6 (contract free) not working in my country, Brazil. My sister is in Kansas and bought two for us and she is coming back on Friday. Hopefully it will work with a carrier from Brazil.

Let you guys know.

Thanks all.

It will work! Relax and have a Caipirinha! I had a friend take 3 iPhones to Brazil last year and everything worked perfectly.

I'm in USA and pre-ordered the T-Mobile iPhone 6 and received an A1549. I plan on using in the UK and it works with my UK O2 sim card so it is definitely SIM unlocked.

This model, unlike the UK sold A1586 doesn't have LTE bands 38-41 however those are only in use in countries like China, any other country that uses them (Australia, Poland, Russia etc) also supports alternative lower channels. When the UK finally gets LTE (outside London) next summer it'll be channel 3 & 20 (Three), 3 & 7 (EE), 20 (O2) and 20 (vodafone) and it has all them so its perfectly fine, and at £100 cheaper for the 64GB it's a great bargain.

What about putting it in a ipad box? Mark it as a "gift for grandma, $100 value used ipad. " ?

Hi! I am new in this forum.
I am from Indonesia and I plan to go to US next week and I want to buy unlocked iPhone 6 Plus 128 GB space gray. If I want to use it back in Indonesia using Indonesian SIM card, should I buy the contract-free Tmobile, verizon, or at&t? I am still not sure whether the contract-free phone is actually unlocked phone that we can use outside of US. Could someone give me a clue? Thanks!

Buy any of those 3 phones from the Apple Store (don't go to any other store) and request "device only" when you purchase. They all have the same LTE/GSM bands and will be unlocked.

Like some of you, I used a AT&T sim card when I got my iPhone 6 Plus (T-Mobile, contract free) and it worked like a charm. I then went to an AT&T store that afternoon and asked them to move my service from my 4s, and I was out of there in about 5 minutes.

This is the first ever unlocked phone I purchased but I'm starting to like the convenience when dealing with carrier salesman and the lack of a contract.

Based on current demand, you have very little chance on getting a tmobile plus (anything except sprint will be unlocked from the apple store). Unless you want to spend your entire vacation camping out infront the apple store. Next strategy will be to visit a store called "best buy" and buy the device "full retail" without contract for $50 more than apple sells

If you're here for more than 3 weeks, i might be a good hedge to order online and get it shipped to a USA address

I was told Best Buy's full price contract free iPhones are locked.

So I ordered a TMob on the apple online site. My assumption is it comes with a T Mob card inside when I pick it up.
There is no option to pick "device only" on the site - so are you saying I have to say this when I pick it up? Will I get something different than the Tmob iphone 6 that I ordered online if I say Device only when I go to pick it up? Or will I just get the same thing I ordered.

Also - since I think I am going to try t mobile for a bit - if I just buy that phone from apple and leave the TM card in it - is it somehow "locked" now - or am I free to change at any point later with another carrier if I choose?

thanks

What was the result? did it work? I'm dying to know...

I had ordered no contract TMob 6 plus on apple online store, got delivered on Sep 25. I took out the existing TMob nano sim from the 6 plus, cut out my att microsim card from Note 3 to nano sim, popped into the iphone, turned it on and did the set up. BOOM.....it's unlocked. Everyone who had ordered no contract TMob from apple store has gotten the unlocked phone. So just order or buy No contract TMob iphone.

But my question is - if I just turn it on with the T-Mob card inside as it comes? Does it somehow become "Locked" to T-Mob from that point that it needs them to unlock it?

I was told Best Buy's full price contract free iPhones are locked.

I'm using another account cause the other one just keep saying wrong passaword. I'm Patricia you helped before.

Anyways, just let you guys know that my sister was in The USA and brought 2 iPhones 6 to Brazil. We put our SIMs from Brazil, turned on and they were READY TO GO! I'm happy as hell.

iPhones sold at the APPLE STORE without contract (T-Mobile ones) are UNLOCKED and can be used in another countries with no problem at all. Very, very happy.

Thx all.

Sorry, just answer.
Got it yesterday. Very happy. =D
Here a SS from my iPhone with TIM (Brazil) network.

I tried that before with a PS4. It didn't work.

Has it worked for you?

Shipped couple items to germany, france, uk,canada marked as gift/sale items, with value $40-60 and all have gotten delivered without any fees.

But guessing iPhone in iPad box wont pass through x-ray.

*Perhaps in some android box? ;)

Is the T-Mobile iPhone 6 unlocked for pre-order?

The one you get device only at the store is the same as the one for sale online. Apple only sells device only T-Mobile phones online or in the store. The phone purchased from Apple at full price will not become locked if you use it on T-Mobile or any other carrier. The only locked T-Mobile phones are ones sold by T-Mobile or other T-Mobile resellers.
