Hi! Have you solved that problem? I've got the same thing...

Yes. You must call ATT customer service. The problem is that even though the sim card works AT must update their system to show that you are using an iPhone 6 in order to get the data working properly. Took me about 5 mins of being on the phone and I was up and running.

So, the model a1586 have GSM compatibility, but is locked to sprint. If I'm not understand wrong, if Sprint unlock this model it will be compatible with GSM carriers. Right?

Sprint will not unlock it. Stay away from Sprint if you want to use it in Brazil.

A friend of mine is trying to get a Tmobile 6 at the galleria Apple Store in Miami but it was sold out today. What are his options to increase his chances of getting an unlocked 6?

Any particular times iPhones are delivered to this store?

Posted this already, but since I bought the T-Mobile full price, I thought I'd share here also:

Don't know if this has been posted, but I hope this might help some people. If you have a iPhone 6/6+, and you show a "4G" indicator on the top, there are steps you can go through to get it to work through AT&T, I found the following on the Apple forum:

After multiple hours on the phone with Apple and AT&T and a SIM card swap, this was the solution that worked for me w/ the T-Mobile "Contract Free" iPhone 6

I spoke to an AT&T GoPhone representative who actually figured out what the issue was through trial and error while speaking to other customers with our exact issue (no data on iPhone 6 w/ AT&T GoPhone plans).

Start by calling 611 and quickly get to a representative who can change your account's internet settings on the backend. At the time of posting here are the steps I followed:

-Call 611

-Wait until prompts are given, then press 0 for Operator

-During next prompts choose 6 for "More Options"

-Then at next prompts press 1 for "Technical Support"

-Then say "Data Services"

-Call will be routed to the correct queue

The AT&T Rep turned on a “feature” on my account by adding “NXTGENGPO” to my internet settings. This was all done on the backend at AT&T, not on my phone. Here were the steps I followed:

-Turned OFF Cellular Data (in Settings - Cellular)

-AT&T Rep added "NXTGENGPO" to my interned settings on the backend

-Turned Cellular Data back ON after it was added

-Cycled the phone off/on.

Lo and behold, LTE appeared on my phone after the reboot and data now works! When I asked what others should be asking for when calling, he said to do the following steps outlined above. I would assume this will work for an AT&T model iPhone 6, and for the Plus models, but of course, YMMV. Nothing else worked but this solution, including a complete restore through iTunes w/ carrier updates, AT&T APN downloads from unlockit, multiple "Reset Networks Settings" in Settings, a SIM swap, etc...

Good Luck!

The tech people AT&T were very happy with me because they apparently have a bunch of open cases, and people were screaming at them, etc. I guess they don't know how to use Google! Hope this helps someone

Just wanted a confirmation if not given already... I am at an apple store line in Chicago.. and they only have AT&T and Verizon available... if I pick-up AT&T Contract free model, that will be unlocked to other networks.. right? ... Apologises if this has been answered already!... quick reply will help (while I am trying to scan this post for an answer!)... I need to take it back and use on a standard 3G/4G GSM network in India.

Yes! You need to use the apple term tho lol. Say you want an AT&T "device only". Apple will not tell you its unlocked so don't ask. But it's been confirmed that it is unlocked out the box. Device only remember don't have them open the box or nothing just buy it and leave

Thank you! Managed to pick 2 of them for the family! ... just to confirm.. I also bought a 16 GB TMO online on apple.com, paid full retail $649... in apple terms, that is "Device Only" correct?

Is someone from Lawrenceville, Georgia. I'm asking because I'll to US (Lawrenceville, Georgia) on 10Oct, and want to know if the Apple in Georgia Mall (or in other store) have Iphone 6 full price Tmobile or if its sold out. Do you think that when'll there I can easilly find Iphone 6 at the store or its better to buy only and send it to the hotel! Thank you!

Better to buy it online and send it to the hotel. There were still queues outside the stores and people waiting as long as 7 hours. If your trip is confirmed, order it online and have it delivered to your hotel.

Yes its unlocked

Yes it is unlocked too. I also ordered through apple online store (Contract Free T-Mobile version) and they were unlocked out of the box.

Quick questions

Hey everyone, :)

I live in Lebanon, and a friend of mine will be in San Fransisco on Friday, and he is staying there till 2 October, he will attempt to buy me an iPhone 6 from the Apple retail store there. I have some questions  :

1- If anyone lives in San Fransisco, can you tell me please if the retail store still has a lot of people waiting in queues to buy the new iPhones, or it is now easy and simple to buy one from there?

2- I will get the T-Mobile phone, witch is, after reading the posts here, unlocked and ready to use on other carriers internationally. But I have seen people saying that they removed the T-Mobile sim card before turning on the phone. If I keep the T-Mobile sim card and turn on the phone just to test it for defects after buying, does this mean that it will become locked to T-Mobile, or I can remove the sim card later and use mine? I'm asking because my friend doesn't know a lot about iPhones so he won't know how to remove sim cards etc..

3- I found a contradicting post here
http://support.t-mobile.com/message/413575

Anyone can tell me if they had similar problems?

Thank you all so much for helping me ;)

Any "device only" AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon iPhone purchased at the Apple retail store will be unlocked. If they are out of T-Mobile tell him to ask for full priced device only Verizon or AT&T.

No it will not become locked to T-Mobile if you turn it on with the SIM card inside. Unlocked IS unlocked. You can active it with any SIM.

Thanks so much for replying Coleman! :) Do you mean that if I ask for "full priced device" at the Apple store, I will get an unlocked phone by just paying 200$ ?

Ok so let me get this straight.

I'm with T-Mobile and have found NO T-Mobile unlocked iPhone 6+ available at Apple.com for pickup anywhere.

So, I can also look for any AT&T 6+, order it "Device Only" and it'll be unlocked and ready for any GSM network?

Hello guys,

I'm not sure if this thread is the right place, but anyway:

How long will it take for the phones to arrive if they are ordered online from apple.com? I have a friend that will stay in Vegas till 6th of October. He won't be able to visit a store, so ordering them online is the only way to get them for me. From what I have understood so far, T-Mobile contract free phones from the website is the option for using them in Europe.

Thanks.

Sorry for the spam, i just saw that the phones are shipped not earlier than 3 to 4 weeks... so going to the store and praying for the best looks like the only option :)

$200.....uh no. Device only is $695-995 depending on screen size and memory.

You have to call AT&T (or do online chat) to have them add the phone to their system. Takes five minutes tops. I did online chat and had to give them my IMEI and ICCID numbers from my phone. The CSR entered in the numbers, had me reboot the phone, then I was up and running with LTE data.

Thank you. I went to an AT&T store that morning and everything turned OK.

Yes. You must call ATT customer service. The problem is that even though the sim card works AT must update their system to show that you are using an iPhone 6 in order to get the data working properly. Took me about 5 mins of being on the phone and I was up and running.

Thank you. My data connection works after the rep reentered my IMEI.

I guess everybody was very helpfull here.

I'm still worried about the iPhone 6 (contract free) not working in my country, Brazil. My sister is in Kansas and bought two for us and she is coming back on Friday. Hopefully it will work with a carrier from Brazil.

Let you guys know.
Thanks all.

Significa que vai funcionar direito?

By the way, the sales people from Apple Store just keep saying that its LOCKED. In all 6 Stores she showed up. I'm just trusting other people experiences like you guys.

Thx.

They always say that it is locked but "Device only full priced" is unlocked. Yes, it will work properly and get 4G LTE in Brazil.

I have friends in Rio who want me to buy an iPhone 6 for them. But I have no way to get it to them besides me flying there to deliver. If I send in the mail they will add high import taxes.
