Comcast bills....they are the worst.
From my experience, here is what I know:
Verizon iphones are unlocked, period. Last year I bought my 5s from verizon, and have since then used it on att and tmobile.
Att will unlock your phone if you have paid it off (not sure how long you need to use it with them first, probably 30-40 days). This was verified with my current phone, an lg g3, that i am now using on tmobile.
A tmobile iphone purchased from tmobile is locked. Why? Because they have the jump plan, where you pay monthly until you pay the phone off. Once you have paid the phone off, assuming you have used it on tmobile for a minimum of 40 days, they will unlock it. Period. So if you buy an iphone from tmobile on launch day...you need to have a tmobile account.
If you buy a tmobile iphone from apple, it is unlocked. It will work on tmobile, att, and other smaller carriers. It will NOT work on verizon or sprint. Why? Because verizon and sprint have a ridiculous policy where the phones you use have to have been purchased from, or designated for their network.
If you travel out of the country you can use "local" (cheap) SIMS
Use it on smaller prepaid GSM carriers (or ones that don't sell iPhones)
Higher resale value.
You can change carrier at your whim (especially since contracts seem to be disappearing)
I am going to Pre-order a 64GB 6+ tonight unlocked t mobile, and if i don't like it i have 14 days or INCASE it is actually locked i can just send it back threw the mail. Either way i get to atleast play around with it without leaving my house to go to the apple store.
ONE IMPORTANT QUESTION THOUGH, is it 14 days from pre-order or when it ships? Anyone know?
From Apple website: "You have 14 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it."
Why doesn't the apple store mobile app give us the option to preorder a tmobile device like the site does?
Can someone please give me their opinion?
I am on Verizon and am considering buying the T-mobile phone tonight and going with them and leaving verizon.
A lot of you are talking about buying the T mobile phone but it doesnt sound like you want to use it with T-Mobile.
The plan info they gave me sounded pretty good compared to what Ive had with Verizon.
So what is it you people dont like about T mobile?
According to this news article it will be LOCKED. Maybe this year it changed.

Maybe someone here knows... I want to wait for the first ones to get their "unlocked" iPhone.. If I order it one week from now, will it be sent to me by October 15? I'm asking because I'm gonna be at the US for a short while.
Im just wondering why so many want to buy the new T-mobile phone (lets just say it IS unlocked - which it may not be) and so many want to NOT use it with T-mobile - which I assume by all the questions as to if its locked to them or not.
So why does no one want to use it with T-mobile? They are looking attractive to me.

ABSOLUTELY. There's just a lot of "speculative" answers here to that question of how to buy an unlocked iPhone 6 tomorrow.Maybe I'm being picky, but just because they list the price as "Unlocked" doesn't mean the TMo one actually is unlocked.
Just got of the phone with Apple. The girl said I Apple has not even announced their pre-order time. She said T-Mobile iPhone 6 can only be used with T-Mobile. ?????
Many, like me, want the unlocked model because they either travel or live in another country and want to use it on the GSM systems available in THEIR country.Im just wondering why so many want to buy the new T-mobile phone (lets just say it IS unlocked - which it may not be) and so many want to NOT use it with T-mobile - which I assume by all the questions as to if its locked to them or not.

Why can't Apple just end the confusion and sell a stinking unlocked phone to begin with?
5 options:
AT&T
Sprint
Verizon
T-Mobile
Unlocked - no sim/carrier contract

The T-Mobile iPhone is contract-free and can be used with the GSM carrier of your choice internationally, but comes preconfigured for use with T-Mobile and needs to be activated with T-Mobile in the United States, an Apple retail support representative wrote. To use the iPhone with another carrier in the United States, you will want to contact T-Mobile for your available options or wait for the unlocked version of the iPhone to be released.

People who want the unlocked T-Mobile version are most likely not due for an upgrade and would have to extend their contracts to upgrade. So they want to pay full price and swap in their AT&T SIM. Or, they travel internationally and want a phone they can use with a local SIM when they travel. Or, they're from another country and want to buy the unlocked T-Mobile phone to use in their country.
I am on T-Mobile and I am very happy with them. I live in NYC and get great LTE coverage. The only time I get poor coverage is when I visit family who live in the middle of no where Virginia. They live near the woods and I drop down to Edge.
