I don't think the point is comfort; the point is it reveals even more, for better or worse. I can't imagine something like that would actually stay in place...
^ The C-string's purpose is supposed to be for those awkward outfits that show so much hip (such as a dress with slits at the sides) that no low-rise panties could possibly be low enough. I can't imagine anyone would just wear one for the hell of it.
Bold 1: Except all the photos were on the beach, where it is being worn like a bikini. I just don't really see the sense of something like that is.. It's revealing, sure; Daring and sexy, sure; But practical and useful?
Bold 2: True, but so much of fashion nowadays (sagging, for one) is just that. Sometimes I wonder if people had an actual brain in their heads if they'd wear half the stuff they do.

I guess they could be worn to minimize tan lines in the case of those beach shots. Other than that and the occasional weird revealing hip clothing, wearing them in place of underwear seems dumb. I've never worn one but they look all sorts of uncomfortable.
