Rene explains nothing, he is apple trusty reviewer whom apple sends all invitations and pre release products... guess why? Certainly, not for his criticism of apple and apple products, right?;)
I like him but he can spin anything apple does. It’s his job.

Just wondering, if apple had put a higher resolution display on XR, would anyone even buy Xs? I imagine atleast a significant portion of Xs sales would be cannibalized by it. Perhaps that's why they made Xr display good but not great..(That's not to take away the work apple has put in having egde to edge LCD display etc.)

He explained it perfectly, no fanboyism involved. I looked at an XR right next to an XS today and the text was NOT fuzzy, and I preferred the LCD screen especially with True Tone switched on, I still think that’s tech designed for LCD screens really.

Everyone making the blanket statement "OLED is the best" is living in a dreamworld. It may look better to them— but there's a fairly large number of people who can't even look at an Apple OLED screen for a couple minutes without getting headaches & eye strain because of the high frequency flickering (PWM). For all those people, Apple's OLED displays are toxic trash. The worst display Apple has ever made in its history. Garbage.
And for them ... They're absolutely correct.

LCD is absolutely fine on an 8+ I can happily confirm as I write this lol.
I never said it’s bad, but compared to OLED it’s not as good. It really comes down to ignorance is bliss. If you never experienced OLED then it looks fine. But once you use OLED lcd looks pretty dull in comparison.

I’ve used OLED so I know the difference. At this point in time I’d rather have a good quality LCD on my iPhone. I find it less harsh on the eyes and less colour shift. Neither are poor but I guess it comes down to preference.

Yes it seems OLED effects some people’s eyes. I wonder if that will be fixed in the future or not.

You must really NOT like OLED.

Agreed. I have both in hand and it's hard to notice but if you look closely you notice the text is marginally clearer on the XS Max. However, viewing angles are hands down better on the XS Max and colors tend to pop more without being vibrant.

Text is fuzzy, naybe you should get your sight checked.

Text is NOT fuzzy for my eyes and I’ve had them tested three times in the last 2 months actually so yeah, you ARE wrong.
Or more like you consider your ‘opinion’ to be a fact everyone else must adhere to as you are the only person who is ever right..

You’ll do well to learn your ‘opinion’ is just that and get of your high horse, especially when it comes to screens and eyes.

While I am one of this site’s biggest PPI hawks, I couldn’t agree more. Well said.

I’m shortsighted to I hold my phone close to my face. So in that case a higher PPI is good to have. But most people will be fine with 326PPI. I never heard an average person complain about the screen of their iPhone 6.

It is not about opinions, text is fuzzy - fact, simple as that. If you cant see it, good for you (actually, not so good cause your sight aint perfect).

I played around with the XR today in the store. I had my max and compared them side to side with apple news app.

On my max I have text size set to the smallest and did the same on the XR. Honestly unless I was holding the phone three inches from my eyes you can’t tell the difference.
And the difference is not fuzziness it’s sharpness of color. I think it’s that blacks are just blacker on an oled display.

You mean contrast. Yes, blacker blacks are the selling point of OLED. The pixels are not lit when it display black ;)

I don’t think anyone in this thread ever said otherwise. BUT, for people to complain, troll, and post idiotic comments that the LCD on the XR is crap, blurry text, etc is asinine. The display is beautiful.

Beautifully mediocre
[doublepost=1540715847][/doublepost]The forum is full of people convincing himself that they are not losing anything buying XR instead of XS (whose purchase seems to be silly...).

However, some of that people will have bought stainless steel watch series 4 instead of alluminium model (almost same difference of money between xr and xs). Can anyone explain me the advantage of buying this model function-wise?

Convincing?
Im not losing anything that matters to me getting rid of my Max for the XR. It was my choice and I’m £500 better off which I can now put towards an Apple Watch if I want to.

Everyone’s use cases are different. And needs. I’ve owned both the XR and Max. In fact, they’re both here with me now. I pick XR every single time.

Some people may be convincing themselves but it works the same way. The amount of XS owners who are justifying their purchases because they suddenly can’t live without 3D Touch is pretty funny.

The internet eh?

Wow! The irony.
