I need to do this on a daily basis, I have to log into my PC to make this happen. Is ios 8 going to manage this incredible feat or am I getting a surface pro 3 to replace my ipad?

Hey guys, I know yesterday I told you how you can email or reply with multiple file attachments but it was real late and I didn't have the time to write how. Since I had some free time today I made a thread here https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=19229679#post19229679 that explains in detail how you can do it on a stock iPhone or iPad.

Hope this helps! :)

So it's basically not about how to do it with the stock Mail app in iOS, nor about how to do with any email account. Perhaps useful to some, but not an overall method that would work for just anyone.

Yeah, it's a more of a in-a-pinch type of workaround. Definitely not as easy as Apple simply baking the capability into the mail app for everyone to use. I really hope that the 'extensions' coming in iOS 8 allow for apps like Dropbox to interact with the mail app to be able to attach files easier for everyone :)

Until Apple gives iOS a user accessible file managment system (like Finder on Mac) we will most likely not be able to do any of these things people keep asking for.

you think they will? they want to keep it 'simple' dont they?

*try*?

I don't care who's doing more, or whose _ick is bigger. I just told what I experienced. If you can't accept it then it's your problem, not mine.

You are not though. You are using a blanket statement saying Android is more complicated with no examples.

Me saying iOS is less complicated because of x y z then saying Android is more complicated isn't an experience or example of how it's more complicated.

Regardless we are now way off topic. We'll end up continuing this discussion in the alternatives section if we keep at it. :)

whatever floats your boat.

The problem with using a third party apps I've tried is that you can't reply to an email you've recieved, you can only create a new blank email and attach multiple documents. Example: I receive an email with one word and one excel attachment. I have to update each attachment and reply in the email thread where they are being discussed.

... I have to go to the PC.

The problem isn't iOS, its your workflow. Whatever is being updated in these documents shouldn't be done via email if its a daily task, thats inefficient.

Back when iPad was first introduced, it was stressed that it wasnt meant to be a PC replacement. 4 years later, people are expecting it to do things you should do at a PC.

Sounds like you may be getting a new tablet soon.

In my Opinion, iOS lacks many crucial features for more than basic users, i.e. advanced ones.

Like Business users: a not at all tech savvy friend of mine ran his business with an iPhone, until he discovered what could be done with an Android phone.

He switch in a heartbeat, knowing that he could now send multiple files, handle files from his clients, put shortcuts on his homescreen ( you cannot do that and Siri's just one of the worst possible things Apple has released so far. I cannot bring to work properly like calling someone or sending an mail )

And for an advanced user like me, everything is just way more convenient. For example, I use Pocket to sync links across my devices ( I have to use Linux and Mac, Android and iDevices ) and Android enables me to just use their built-in share function to send every link to Pocket.

And that works with all apps - they can easily share stuff ( files, links, information ). I cannot express how eye-opening that was when I used an Android phone for the first time in years.

- Almost everything works and is fast - like my animations which I could speed up myself to my needs. ( my iPhone crashed regularly, my iPad does, too - you know that funny blue screen? ;-) )
- Or - like mentioned - the notification LED. That's one handy feature ! Every app has its own color so I can easily distinguish what app sent me a notification.
- The notification center is miles ahead - I can collapse notifications like I want, set the quick toggles at a whim etc.
- Storage options - 64GB for roughly $40
- I can choose the stock apps
- Copy and paste done better
etc.
The list goes on.

I can see that most people will probably never need such features, but for advanced and business users, many of these may be necessary to operate effectively ( sadly, I saw that most adapted to the inefficient ways of iOS because there not willing to learn and thus Apple can continue to be slow ).

iOS 8 takes a step in the right direction with actionable notifications and better file sharing, but they are still lacking behind. Nonetheless is an iPhone a very good phone and I'll continue to use them ( they integrate well ) because of accessories, etc. But I hope that there's a next big step in near future.

Maybe if you stop using fake one.. :)

I do not use fake ones.

iPhone Bluescreen of Death

The same happens when I use my iPad. Safari is sometimes a nightmare, it doesn't load web pages ( neither wifi no LTE ), apps freeze, etc. pp. I use 7.1.1.

Sometimes, it's a nightmare to use an iOS device.

But mostly, it's not as bad. You can notice the lack of RAM, though.

If you don't, then maybe your phone was defective? Because this *crashing regularly* doesn't sound about right. And *that funny blue screen* is completely new to me. (Thanks for the link though. This is the first time I ever hear about it. Still never have it myself.)

Hello there, did this three times now. And it still exists. Neither a clean nor a backup install helps. The same problem occurs on all my iDevices.

For now, I use an Android phone. I'll switch back when the iPhone comes out, though.

( Funny sidestory: I was told that I shouldn't turn on of these iPhone on anymore because of possible danger of explosion. It got ridiculously hot and discharged extremely fast. )

I exchanged it three times now. And I cannot believe that I got three defective devices. I don't want to exchange my phone every two months simply due to Apple inability to provide a flawless phone.

I had many problems with iPhones so far, but many could be resolved because of the helpfulness of Apple's customer support. I just wanted to say that I do not intend to buy an iPhone 5s since I got enough problems with my old one. I certainly know that this isn't representative at all, but I'm quite happy with my Samsung ( not because I like them, in fact, I only use it because it was the cheapest one available.)

The problem is that most non tech savvy persons are not - how do I put it - aware of crashes etc. So there's no complains from them. I witnessed this several times.

In my opinion it is of utmost importance to enhance sharing ( I have no insight on the beta at the moment) between apps and enhance the experience for advanced users.

User doesn't need to access it. Just Mail. And with this whole iCloud drive share across apps it sounds like it might be possible shortly

It happened to me *once*, on an iPhone 5S. It's a very cool effect, like "hello, Windows!" :D

This is iOS users we're talking about. If Apple gives users the ability to attach any file from iCloud or Dropbox to an e-mail the next thing they will cry about is "how come I can't keep files on my phone? <insert other phone OS> has had that feature for years"

Who knows. Apple also believed a 3.5" screen was ideal for a smartphone. Now look.

I'm conflicted by this, because i loved the 3.5" and i felt like that was an ideal phone size, small and compact.

i didnt want bigger, i upgraded to the 5S and when i use my 4S i can't stand the small screen real estate.

i dont want it bigger, but once i use bigger, i can't go back.

I just added 6 pictures to my apple email client email....
Just do a long pause in the body of the text and choose insert image or video

I am using an ipad mini retina with iOS7.1.1

I didn't even know you can do this until now  and here I thought I know every little secret there is in iOS. Thought you have to share the photos from the photo app, so I've never used that compose button in the mail app. Why is it hidden in the more option part though?
