Stop drinking the cool aid. If they doubled the RAM, they would publicize it, as they will when the ipad pro comes out.

Apple didn't mention it the last two times they doubled the RAM. No reason to think they would this time either (if, in fact, they did).

Apple only lists specs for things that they lead in and/or are full of marketing speak. Apple doesn't lead in RAM, most consumers have no idea what it really even is, so they don't tend to talk about it. They say "Now with 2GB RAM", then people compare that "feature" to Android and see 3GB being tossed around, then one looks inferior to the other even though we're comparing Apples to Oranges.

Ultimately, no one will know the Air 2 RAM specification until the review NDA drops, or they start arriving in hand.

My money is on 2GB based on what all they said about the A8X, as well as the leaked part images, but can't be 100% sure until it's queried in software / torn down.

why dont you just ask it from apple? surely they are obliged to give all information before a customer makes decision to buy or not to buy. or is apple exception?

I did ask them before checking out my order and they couldn't answer me as the information was not provided in the technical specification, which is actually why I was asking.

I take it since the A8 has 2 billion transistors and dual core, the A8x with 3 billion is tri-core???

Given the obvious bean-counting measures they did to the specs of the iPad mini, Mac mini, etc. I have cancelled my pre-order of the Air 2 and will wait for confirmation of the RAM amount before I place the order again. Anyway this thing is not going to sell out at launch unlike the iPhone.

They don't know more than anybody else here. They even admitted it here:

Powering the iPad Air 2 is Apple's new 64-bit A8X processor and 1GB RAM, a beefed up variant of the A8 found inside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple claims this gives their new tablet a 40% faster CPU and 2.5 times the graphics boost over the original iPad Air, but the exact specs are not yet known. It's rumoured to be a six-core Imagination PowerVR GX6650 graphics processing unit (GPU).

Odds of 2gb ram are slim and none, and slim just left the building.

12.9 Pro/Plus will have the 2gb

Honestly, iPad only ends up using 10mb of RAM so 1gb is way too excessive, which makes it irrelevant. So, "it doesn't matter".

That is so much misinformation I don't even. Tried developing for iPad and getting low memory warnings all the time? iOS makes the most out of the RAM available to it, fact. For bountiful evidence, kindly visit Auntie Google.

Absolute GARBAGE!

Lmao. I've monitored RAM usage on my iphone 4 and it used constantly around 3-400mb.

If iOS is ANYTHING like OS X(Which it is) then I would expect around 7-800mb used on the iPhone 5 and above devices.

They never publicise RAM:rolleyes:

Certainly seems to explain the difference in transistor count. Looks pretty much confirmed now triple core and 2GB.

Well I still think a 6 core gpu is possible, so the increased transistor could be explained by this. A 3 core cpu is.. Special. :apple:

After the complains about RAM, Apple has decided to put 128GB RAM into iPad Air 2.....

Why is Apple so stingy on RAM! We need 256GB RAM!!! It's an outrage, I can only load 500 Safari Tabs at once! :D:D:D:D
