Apple did not ever promise a 3AM pre-order would mean you'd get one on launch day. They also made it apparent the shipping window wasn't a specific deliver date, being launch date.

But it says something about the brand when this has almost been their unofficial means of rewarding their hardcore enthusiasts by giving them the product first, and that trend has been broken for the first time since the original iPhone launch.

It really wouldn't. I would be disappointed but I wouldn't start whining until apple had missed their shipping window completely.

Are yooooouuu suuuuuure?

I get what you are saying. While I am slightly bummed it's not the end of the world. This is the first preorder I've participated in and NOT received on launch day.

If a person is too stupid to understand the word "exclusively" than they are probably to stupid to know how to plug in a cable and charge the watch. They would just return it after a day claiming the battery is dead.

To me, "exclusively" is not the source of confusion, but instead "pre-orders" being exclusively online. There have been countless other Apple product launches with online "exclusive" pre-orders, with supply at B&M shops on launch day.

I know my opinion isn't valid since I am getting my watch on launch day

But I find it ridiculous that people are whining about not getting the watch on launch day when no one was promised a launch day delivery. I get it that we are all excited and that it sucks to not be first after waking up early, but until Apple miss their 5/8 delivery date you really don't have any good reason to whine.

I'm not scheduled to get my watch until mid-May and I'm inclined to agree with you.

They've been touting this watch for months.

They setup a pre order two weeks before 'launch' day.

People who ordered within the first ten or five minutes aren't receiving a watch on launch day which is pathetic for a company the size of Apple. The most valuable company in the world can't deliver after months of planning and a two week lag between order and delivery. Not only that, they needed to put in a default two week delivery window in.

It's not only a dribble, it's a crappy dribble.

I expect people to understand that the watch is not the same thing as a phone.

- The number of configurations available.
- The personalization of selection (e.g. are people more willing to compromise on getting a silver rather than their prefered space gray phone because they are putting a case on it anyway, vs getting a white vs. green strap?)
- A complete lack of any historical information to create a model of demand...and even with that data for the latest launch, it appears that they significantly underestimated the demand for the Plus.

It's pretty clear from the unending whining, bitching, and moaning on this forum that people simply do not get it. This is an entirely new product line, not the latest iteration of a long running, successful product line.

The fact is, if you pre-ordered the watch, you agreed to a delivery window. If you didn't want a delivery window, than you shouldn't have pre-ordered. It doesn't matter how Apple handled previous pre-orders. This is how they've chosen to handle THIS pre-order. So stop whining until Apple has actually failed to deliver within the time frame they promised.

I just got off the phone with Apple and the lady told me they are getting hammered with unpleasant phone calls. So those who arbitrarily decided this was a wonderful launch might want to wait for all the facts first.

And why did you call Apple? I'm sure you had some absolutely important item to discuss with them..

Ah, the wise masters of Meereen have descended from their pyramids to remind us of how many SKUs and how complicated watch launches are, yet again, for the 1000th time. Thank you wise masters for putting us in our places!

If they were busy they wouldn't answer.

Even if there were only one SKU, if demand is exceeding supply, then the delivery windows make total sense. How Apple has handled previous launches is irrelevant. This is how they've chosen to handle this particular launch.

I had a 12:01 order ready to go, but my wife wanted to buy me my watch as it's a birthday gift. She's not as well versed with the process as I am, so it take her until 12:08 to order it. 7 minutes cost me as much as a month in wait time. At no point have I cried, whined, or cursed anyone at Apple for this turn of events. And even if I had placed my order at 12:01, and still didn't receive my watch on Friday, I'd be acting the same way. Why? Because I'm an adult who understands that I can't always have everything I want the moment I want it.

Many of us are on these forums to discuss the watch and have fun tracking deliveries and such. The incessant, endless whining and complaining is a real downer, and it doesn't help you get your watch any faster. It just makes the complainers look like immature children. Let's enjoy the thoughts of people who are getting their watch without worrying about when we'll get ours, because it sounds like most of the people here are in the first two shipping waves, which means we'll all have our watch in a month or most likely much sooner.

I would agree with this in principal if not for the 'fact' that seemingly some models have no movement at all while they were ordered almost instantly which seems to me like they are not available for the 4/24 'launch'

Now I get it we are raining on your parade and you don't like it and in return whining your dam self. So tell me more about this mature thing.

Just to clarify- I believe there's 38 different watch SKUs available.

In the U.S.- there's 36 phone SKU's for each flagship phone- 3 colors, 3 storage options, 4 different cellular carriers.

That's 72 configurations if you will between the 6 and 6+.

The whining about whining is blowing my mind. Wheels within wheels.

I bought my watch from my wife for myself. You let your wife use a computer? That's your first problem.

This is exactly it. It wasn't clear at all that the watch would be exclusively sold online during the launch period.

I don't know what I find funnier...my imaginations of the support technicians busting a gut in laughter and high-fiving each other when another angry call comes in during a release/launch period as they tell folks whatever they want to hear to get them off the lines. Or, the more real observation that after all these years, people STILL call support folks looking for information that isn't available or known, and then trot it back to enthusiast forums as a novel find. It can only get better if they attach the "CONFIRMED!" pre-text on the post. Oh well, stay crazy all. :)

And we continue to not get people like you. How can you not "get" that?

How can you swallow this "order window" crap so quickly hook, line, and sinker? I wish someone would explain to me how they can take that bending over so easily. Apple has never done launch windows. They've also never missed delivering phones launch day for 3AM ordering.

They have also never sold a watch and they do not have 7 years of sales data on what people will buy like they do with the iPhone. Please spare us the crap. Your order says shipping April 24- May 8th that's when it will ship.

Of course they have 7 years of data on selling phones, they have 0 selling the watch

I didn't call support for information I'm on this planet to long for that but I did call to be on the list of many who did call and log my dissapointment. Maybe it gets trickled up to the powers to be maybe it doesn't.

People don't call customer service to say how happy they are that their shipments arrived on time.
