My powerbook could fry some mean bacon if I'd close off the vents. Just be sure to use some sort of tray to keep the grease out of the keyboard...:)

Two new lessons learned.

My G4 B&W was having a crash fest with my G5 last week. I tracked the G4 down to a failed CPU fan on my upgraded processor. The Little heatsink and fan they give you for the upgrade kit is a joke. I installed the stock G3 heatsink, and I am now without problems.

I think the G5 is good now too, I found that I cant watch DiviX videos on Mplayer while I have Safari open. I encoded a couple of seasons of Xfiles in that codec last year (Before I had any "Gx" PowerPC Mac systems) on my P450. I think it is time to redo them in H264 on my G5 so I can watch them in quicktime.

So..... its been well over 12 hours, and your stats still haven't returned to their previous level. What gives? Are you not able to get all your machines back into folding?

Just curious ;)
 
I don't fold, yet...but my sister does, a whole whopping 5 units done so far lol. Just thought I'd share since now she's part of the whole distributed computing thing. btw, after I get up into the top 100 on the MacRumors Seti team, I'm switching to folding. I have a goal of 1000 units for f@h.
 
I addded 300 points this week, and I have two large units about to finish on the home G4 and on the iBook. The iMac just started another.

Just trying to help the team, don't know how long I'll hang with it, but we'll see.

when i plugged the machines back in they all got new work units (!) presumably the old WUs got trashed.

currently most of them are working on a protein in the 114x range -- which are 600 point WUs. so lets say half the lab is crunching these then:

600 (WU) * 15 (machines) * 2 (HT) = 18000 :)

one of these days (prob friday) there will be a big spike again. most of the machines are 70+% done
 
In case anyone noticed my absence (unlikely), I'm back at more than full production, because now I have a dual 2.7 G5 working 'round the clock. I'll be getting back to my old position (92) in less than 2 weeks, and I'm slated for 50 in less than a year. :D

Of course we noticed/missed you! Welcome back...

Sounds like things will be picking up again for us. The surge in production from new members and existing members picking up the pace has been fantastic. Even I've managed to bounce back from sub 1000 production to the 1600 range.

Today was my very final day. I shut down three more machines that were trying to get their WUs done.
I won't be going back either, no more farm for me. Just one at home, doing all it can. It felt kind of strange, although that probably has more to do with me leaving there than it has with folding. ... I hope ... :rolleyes:

- Any more questions before we finalise this interview?
- Just one remark, i won't sign a contract without it mentioning i can use your computers to fold.

But having nothing to do for the next two months but finding a job i guess i'll try to keep up by pencil and paper. And work on getting the widget past the beta and in to the 1.0 stage.

Just broke the 5K mark and ranked 484. Hopefully I can convince my brother to add his Dell...

GeeYouEye, I really missed you, I really really did (like anyone is gonna believe that...)! Glad to have you back and that you can also kick my butt and help to get out of the top 40... :mad: GRMBL Dual 2.7 GRMBL...

And last but not least: Atszyman... I will sue you for plotting against me in public and sexual harrasment! Plotting against me to kick me out of the top 40... GRRRRRR. This forum has all the proof for court!
 
Yes we are starting to do good, my iBook is still chugging along 24 hours a day and my uptime widget says 29 days :cool: However due to heating concerns the processor is set to automatic which slows it down from like a 2 point an hour to 1.1-1.3 point an hour. Oh well, im over 1500 points.

Soon within the end of the year i hope to get a new computer so beware in the future :p :)

Unfortunately due to the previously mentioned restraining orders I am not allowed within 500 feet of most courthouses...:)

It's kind of sad. I've been taunting you for months now and it looks as though tomorrow it will be over.

I congratulate you on being a worthy nemesis, and look forward to the day when you knock me down a place or two...

Now.... who to taunt next....

Well yeah I suppose so. It's just that I was feeling down due to the decline in production. The upswing had me feeling all boastful, but that'll end when mgoodman blows by.

I've tried to restrain from taunting you since you were one of the folders I "looked up to" when I started. But now that I've got nearly 200,000 more points than you... ;)

Honestly I think you are one of the best folders we've got. Always chugging away and ready for a fight no matter what the odds. Nice job Dread.

Thanks! That does me some good, and I owe it all to me dual 1.8! And to all: Keep this forum alive! This is what makes folding fun and keeps it interesting! (well, for me that is)

Well, that is the intention of my sig. But what I was hoping for is that I also could add more computers. Unfortunately I could only persuade one of my friends to start folding under my name. And the firewall at work is blocking the connection to the Stanford servers. So, couldn't add anything.
