Weee-Hah!
Broke into the top 1000 :D

The RAM's on a ramble now!

I'll be in the Top 500 soon. Currently at 501. Oh, the agony! :D

At current speed I might be in the Top 100 in a year from now. Yay....

when i plugged the machines back in they all got new work units (!) presumably the old WUs got trashed.

currently most of them are working on a protein in the 114x range -- which are 600 point WUs. so lets say half the lab is crunching these then:

600 (WU) * 15 (machines) * 2 (HT) = 18000 :)

one of these days (prob friday) there will be a big spike again. most of the machines are 70+% done
You where right, big boost at friday! almost 75000 points for the team that day.

Are you talking about just the MacRumors team? I'm at the pont now that I can't brag. :( My current rank is decreasing with time. Due to others purchasing newer Mac's.

Just MR. I'm in 80000th+ place or something in the global ranking... so it's not like I have much to brag about.

wdlove, I'm using my usual G4 and have since added my work G4 (along with a new DELL) and my ratings in the last month have now shot me up to #259 in the ranks. I can't keep up with the heavy hitters either but I just keep on lettin' my comps do the crunching.

Well, you can think of what you're doing now as damage control - keeping yourself from losing too much ground so that, when you do get that new computer down the road, you can rise that much quicker.

You can also choose new goals. Look for someone above you who seems to have stopped contributing (or at least slowed down) and make it your goal to pass him (even if both of you are losing rank in the mean time.)

You can always find some attainable goal. :)

Always do. Got into Top500, reached 5000 point mark, and now it's Top400 and 10000 points next. In about two months at the current rate... Hmm. Maybe I should put together that server I've been thinking about :D

Wow! The team is smoking right now! BlackAdder is at 10k per day, mgoodman is approaching 5k a day, and we've got the entirety of the top ten folders up over 1k a day!

Go team go!

09.06.05, 6am / 47 Days

The projected takeover date of General [M]ayhem. I think that we may be taking back our lost 21st spot folks...:D

And I am expected to hit 10K about August 6th...

my lab is gonna be offilne for a while. theyre working on the roof, so the computers had to be shut off and covered in plastic.

last time i shut the machines off they DLed new WUs when they got turned back on :(

Okay folding pros, answer me this simple (I think) question:

If I close the terminal, halting the folds, when I relaunch the fah5 file and terminal window, does it automatically start where it left off? or is there something I am supposed to enter in the terminal to pause the process and save progress?

I just started folding again, so I really don't know what is going on  Thanks.

I'm happy to be in the same boat that you are. My thoughts are that no matter hoe much I accomplish, it's helping researching medical science.

probably your settings for folding are scr*w*d. Had the same, sometimes still have that problem. Type "crontab -l" and restart, this should make it all better! Alsways use the commands pause and resume if you are using mc68k's script.

Today is the first time I have seen my rank go DOWN using the f@h widget. Sad day. Its too bad for the person who passed me that my 600 point WU is about to go through ;)

I have not been using that script mostly because I failed to see the real advantage to it over starting fah5 everytime I load the computer. I was really just curious if I have to terminate terminal (to sleep, or need to do something like restart) would it save my work on exit and start where it left off, or does that protein get scrapped and I start anew upon relaunching fah5?

yes, it saves your work back to the last checkpoint

you can run fah5 in the background (w/o the Terminal open) by appending the & symbol the the end of the command

if you sleep the process should start back up automatically.
