It's a great week for Folding! (post your bragging here)

I am being out accelerated by the likes of Mgoodman and other newer members, but I am proud to announce that I have reached the 5000 mark :)

A new 3GHZ machine has also been added to my mini fleet :)

Not to worry, the numbers add up quickly.

As I look to my new place, I lament that the PB fans work overtime when doing folding.

OT of sorts:

Any thoughts as to the PM G5's and their noise compared to the eMac? I have an eMac from the last revision. I think that I might be able to live with the fan noise that I hear, as "white noise" in my bedroom setup (space constraints will force me to place the computer in my bedroom or living room). For what I envision, the living room may not work well. And since my TV habits have caused me to re-look at getting an HDTV set that I was planning on a Mac mini for.

Right now I have an eMac and a PB 12". I wanted to add a mac mini to the family, but given the Tiger requirements, I am thinking that a iMac G5 or PM 5 would be a better option (in particular the PM G5 2ghz dualie). In my old townhouse, this would not be an issue since I have my computers in a separate room. Thoughts here? Thanks.

With Tiger, my G5 PM runs the fans allot slower then it used to in a 68 degree room. The white noise is actually calming and puts me to sleep better then the "normal" fan I have running to help calm me down.

I have no experience with the emac, and didn't even know it had a fan! I guess only the last of the CRT iMac lineup was convection cooled. I just learned something new today :)

I have a emac, and if you can get the emacs fan output pointing just the right way you can hardly hear it. Mine is pointed at a wall it is fine.

Just letting you guys know i will probably be celebrating tomorrow
- i'll be getting + 20.000 points
- i'll be entering the top 200
20.000 points happened, small jeej
top 200, not yet, small bah

A power outage and a holiday make sure my output will be off the coming 3-4 days. I'll probably make it to the top 200 this weekend though.
mgoodman is preparing to run me over right now. He'll have me tomorrow (in a folding way that is - folding as in distributed computing; sick minds ;))

Everybody with a ranking of 178 and up that is. My bad.
;)

NP,

whoever he/she is, they are very modest, and don't brag about the pasting they are giving mostly all of us fellow folders :) .

I wish whoever it is, would challenge other Macrumors members to outrun him, and the other top 10 Folders in our group. Our numbers are again low. And I am not helping because my SLOWEST computers both just grabbed Tinker jobs, that take them a week and a half to complete :(

I'm back.... Back with a tan, and the first I did when I came home was to start up my Mac. I don't know how far I fall back, first to post here, then look at all the goodies Apple has brought us this last week, and then look at the big scoreboard :D

Could it be... is mgoodman our savier in these difficult times :p or is it our topfolder from last year that caused quite the scandal? I know he is back under a different name and working at the background. Anyway, cheers, welcome at team MacRumors, we are glad to have you folding with us, as long as you don't pass me! :D

Woohoo, I cracked the Top 400. It may not seem like a big achievement, but I got there in under 50 days.

Congrats!

Looks like we both just passed Nermal :(

But look! Nermal is folding again!!

I made top 20 for a few hours!!

Yay me!!

Congrats on the first fold! Feels good, doesn't it?

And, keep in mind, taunting is only fun until someone pokes an eye out.

.)

They really do need to create one-eyed smileys for this situation.

Anywho - my main producer, my iMacG5, has been sitting at CompUSA waiting for repair for 3 weeks now. Grrrrrrrrr. I guess with Apple upgrading the line, it's been impossible to get a hold of a new midplane. But, the Apple guy at CompUSA said that I get one of the new upgraded ones free. I have to check out what's on the midplane to see what exactly I'm getting the same and what it has upgraded.

Anywho - the moral of the story is that my team (me, myself, and I) have been floating at a ranking between 5050 and 5080. It's painful to be so close to my original goal of breaking 5000 and to be at a standstill. I think when the iMG5 gets back from his little vacation, he's gonna be set on "highest" rather than "automatic" processing for a while to make up for it. ;)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr  You'll put me out of the top 40!

At least you don't have to worry about me for awhile. I just caused the client on my work PC to lose it's mind and start over processing an 1140 and 1149 one of which was 87 steps out of 100 done the other at 59. Mind you each step takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete. Once the WUs are completed though they net 600 points apiece, now I have to wait another 14 days or so.

Back to step 0....

LOL!!! :D aren't they 400 steps...? And only 241 points each? Wel, after I'm overtaken, I'll be soon in the top 40, gonna overtake two in the week after!! :D
