Really? Look at the application iSync. What is that? A brushed metal icon. Same as that knob, minus the recycle style arrows.

I thought it was supposed to resemble the iPod's Hold button?...

So far iTunes 10 has proven to be one of my worst Apple experiences ever. It blew away all of my iTunes 9 preferences (view options, sorting, etc) and it was an onerous process to get everything looking and behaving the way it used to. In particular, I can't fathom why they decided to hide album artwork if you have less than 5 songs, which necessitated me turning on the view option "Always show artwork" for every single one of my playlists. And don't even get me started on Ping... what a turd.

Yeah...It's crazy that you had to spend 5 seconds getting it back to the way you like it to display....not sure how you will be able to go on living with all of the unacceptable changes....

Whats the difference between "change iTunes buttons" and install?

Change itunes buttons allows you to make the new buttons go back to being horizontal. I had already changed the buttons before I found this tool by going to terminal and typing defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -1

You still need to hit install to change all the ugly, bland, gray icons back to color.

Its a bad user experience, period. For no obvious gain. And it took about 10 minutes to find and restore everything.

Hints of UI changes for 10.7?

Am I the only one who thinks that 10.7 is going to look like iTunes 10?
- grey icons
- status bar buttons without boxes
- more shiny metal highlights (see volume scroller)
- Less contrast in edges
- less obvious dividers
- gone aqua blue, hello soft blue

I am seeing a trend in:
- smoothing/blending the UI
- toward greys and soft blues

**COLORS**

He everyone, with the help of our fellow MacRumors friend, OutThere,
I've made a quick little utility that makes it so you can switch iTunes 10 from the new style to one that is more colorful (like the old one) and you can switch it back if you like. The utility also allows you to switch scrollbars in the finder from aqua to itunes style, and a couple other changes.

keep in mind I make no claims of being a professional programmer, so this is rough at best but it does work.

All the best to everyone.

Now Updated to let you switch the Menubar buttons between vertical (new default) and horizontal (classic).

I'm trying to see about removing "Ping" but so far I'm thinking it might look like it's buried in the "pref:130:preferences" of the iTunes .plist file :(

EDIT 1: uuug sorry folks, the update may take a bit before it's posted. I'm at a remote location and only getting about 3KB/s upload...I'm just so used to an upload like this being near instant at home. I'll post again when it's finished uploading.

EDIT 2:
It should be up and ready now

You're kidding, right?

The only change that anyone has mentioned having to "look" for is "show all artwork" which is right in the drop down menu...2 seconds.

Page layout, as it has been for years, is a single icon click at the top of the page.

The only thing that has seemed to "stump" people is how to make the album art appear larger in the browser window.

If anyone lost any files or are missing songs that is most likely due to them placing them where iTunes doesn't place them.

I had to click two things to change the layout to look like I always had it....5 seconds...and it definitely loads and runs faster than older versions.

Here's a nice new rumor; A new version of iTunes 10 will be made available later this year. In fact, Apple Engineers are already working on it.

COLORS!

I hate the lack of colors in iTunes 10, so I did a little ThemePark rsrc hacking and put the colored icons from 9.2 back into 10. It's not perfect, but I didn't want to waste too much time on it, and it looks alright on my computer for the icons that I use regularly.

Download (zip, 11.1mb)

Instructions included.

Enjoy, and feel free to let me know if you see an icon that should be fixed—I didn't check that they all look normal. :p

- Small size only.
- Some may be broken.
- No guarantees.

Thanks so much for this. Between this download and the trick to get the horizontal buttons back, my iTunes experience is good again. :D

Itunes 10 (Address Book & Iphone Sync failure)

I have already installed Itunes twice and I am not able to sync my Address Book with my iPhone contacts. Itunes simply doesn't "see" the address book and I can't find any place to redirect Itunes to it. (it used to work before)

I have Mac OS X 10.6.4.

Please help !!!

Fernando

Give this a try: but this uses OutTere's .rsrc file modifications (with OutThere's permission) and will allow you to put them in place or to switch back to iTunes new default if you want.

Video playback (in a window, not full screen) is awfully pixelated now. However, when you roll over it and bring up the controls or go to full screen it's fine.

Bug = reported.

Is anyone else having problems pasting in a description to a movie or TV episode? On iTunes 10, if I paste something long in the "Description" field, and click on the "i" icon, it truncates whatever I pasted to the max # of characters allowed; it didn't do this on the previous version.

I didn't see it by searching the thread, but I'm surprised the burn to disc button in the bottom right corner is gone. maybe people don't burn cd's but I think six cd's in my changer beats having a cord to plug into my phone that's in my pocket every time i get in my car. And there isn't even a key combo to bring up the burn disc window.
