You guys are really fickle if you can't deal with a few extra things in the sidebar.

Fickle? I think the iTunes UI team are the fickle ones... they seem to have to fiddle with its design every few releases or so. We're all still trying to use the thing despite them messing about with it all the time(!), hardly fickle. :)

Exactly! Same issue with 700+ apps.. Where is the search bar?!

+1 This is a horrible omission. I don't really care about the icon or the change to "grayscale" icons, but this is a function that disappeared and something I used constantly. So much so that I'll be going back to 9.x

It now uses the search in the top right corner, stinks I know, but better than nothing.

**COLORS**

He everyone, with the help of our fellow MacRumors friend, OutThere,
I've made a quick little utility that makes it so you can switch iTunes 10 from the new style to one that is more colorful (like the old one) and you can switch it back if you like. The utility also allows you to switch scrollbars in the finder from aqua to itunes style, and a couple other changes.

keep in mind I make no claims of being a professional programmer, so this is rough at best but it does work.

All the best to everyone.

Overall, I agree with the sentiment of previous posts that the new design isn't anything to lose sleep over. Personally, I like a lot of the changes. I prefer the new grayscale sidebar icons, but I usually use the graphite appearance option and my wallpaper is the graphite version of Tiger's default. So maybe I like it just because it fits better with my personal preferences.

But yeah, that volume slider nubbin is ridiculously ugly. Is it a softball? The top of some gray gem? Why is it so big? Oh well.

Edit- I just noticed that iTunes no longer says "iTunes" at the top of the application window. This, combined with the sideways-oriented window controls freed up some small amount of window real estate to the library. I'm not saying it's worth it, just that it maybe logically answers the often-posted question, "why are the buttons sideways?"

Not sure if this is new, but now you can play songs and videos directly from a connected iPhone, provided that it's authorized to the same iTunes account. The songs don't have to be present in your local library, and it doesn't matter whether "manually manage music" option is on or off. It correctly keeps track of play counts, bookmarks for podcasts and movies, etc.

So you can sync an iPhone with your main desktop, then plug it into laptop and play your media there without having to keep two identical iTunes libraries or using home sharing. Nice feature.

Just wanted to post a link in here. I've completed a significant amount of my mod

Oh & just so there's no confusion, it looks like OutThere & I had the same idea at the same time

I hope this mod helps someone :)

+100 internet points for you, thank you very much for the tweaks. I wonder if Apple really beta tested the new visual changes and actually got positive feedback on it?

Move the "stop lights"* back to horizontal:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -1

See if that doesn't solve your issue with the missing title at the top of the application window.

(* The close, minimize, and zoom buttons)

I've been playing around with iTunes 10 and the first thing you immediately notice is the massive change in font types--it takes some getting used to. But I do like the fact it works a tad smoother, and it detected and synced all my iPods with my problems.

Really? Look at the application iSync. What is that? A brushed metal icon. Same as that knob, minus the recycle style arrows.

Ping problems

I've created my Ping profile, and selected a few to follow, like Jack Johnson, Coldplay, etc. When I look at the feeds, it'll say things like, "Get a sneak peak at Jack's new video for...". But there is no way to view the video, or a photo for that matter. No photo thumbs show up, no video thumbs either. Does this require Snow Leopard? Am I missing something?

It's supposed to resemble an old 70s Hi-Fi unit's switches and knobs. I'm guessing it's so big because Apple is playing with multi-touch on some prototype Mac. iTunes has always been their experimental UI testing ground.

She ain't no lady either.
Wow, just wow. LOL!

Pardon my out-of-sequence replies but iSync is basically there for legacy purposes. It don't believe it is still actively maintained. I will likely be gone in the next version of X.

People don't need it for syncing their Nokias etc. anymore? I know I used it a lot when I didn't have an iPhone.
