One new feature

Just realized that you can go to Devices and play music directly off a connected iPhone, iPod, or iPad.

What the hell? New iCon is crap, new interface changes are crap, Ping won't even work (it just keeps asking for my apple id without going any further), why is it every iTunes update strives to make the app worse?
I want iTunes 4 back!

Someone just bought me a new TV. I hate it!! It has colours. It also has stereo speakers. To top it off, it's also flat.

God damn all this new stuff, all crap!

Hahaha
Seeing this was a nice treat when I plugged my IPod in to sync:

Summer placement student in charge of the UI?

Seriously fugly!

Actually, that, I like. Didn't care for the color going away in the sidebar/prefs, but I like those colors there.

That has been there for years already. Nothing new.

I don't think so....I could never play music from my iPhone when plugged into my laptop because it was synched to my desktop at home.

Now when I click on the "music" portion of my iPhone when connected, it actually shows the songs as playable instead of "there but not playable."

It looks bland but I'll probably get used to that, what's less forgivable is the removal of the search bar when syncing movies or apps to my iPhone... I've got over 500 movies, when picking one of them to sync I used to use the search bar, it was invaluable, and now it's gone!!! WTF!!! I now have to scroll down to find what I'm after, fine if you have 20 movies but a pain in the ***** when you have 500!!! :(

Exactly! Same issue with 700+ apps.. Where is the search bar?!

I've never seen so much whining and complaining over nothing. Pages and pages of trivial nitpicking.
Well, if people don't have to worry about bad harvests and starving, or being pillaged by neighboring tribes, or surviving diseases and the winter and all...what else is there to complain about?

1.) I don't like the new iTunes logo/icon.
Agreed, but it is a simple copy/paste action from the previous iTunes Get Info window.
2.) I want colored icons in the sidebar.
Thanks to those who (re-)created them.
3.) I want colored Pref icons.
Again, thanks for the replacements.
4.) I don't need no half baked iPing.
Apart from feeling unease about Apple trying to armstrong their way into social media (there simply are limits as to how much of my life I want to hand over to Apple), we can remove for example the Genius icon from the source pane, but not the Ping icon. Why? Simply because Apple hopes to make money out of it. Like the non-removable crapware on Windows or smartphones, more stylish but the same principle.
5.) I most certainly don't want a freaking stupid Cancel and OK button on my Pref window.
iTunes 9.x already had them

I don't care a bit about the traffic lights, my only criticism is that the iTunes window looks a bit too fragile with the very thin bezel in the top center, otherwise I actually prefer the vertical traffic lights (they don't really serve a function anyway).

But the list area is definitely harder to read and yet has a larger line spacing. Too little contrast/colour. In a space where iTunes 9 would fit eight lines, iTunes 10 only fits 7 lines.

Biggest plus is almost no lag when syncing devices, previously it would beachball every single time if you tried to to anything else during syncing (much more so with my 'slow' 3G than my fast 4G).

But there is stupid bug in the syncing code. When you have added media to your library such that they won't fit anymore on your iDevice, a message pops up about suggesting to disable Podcasts. Previously, you could simply unselect some items, sync again and everything would be fine. Now, if you unselect them, iTunes won't even get as far as deleting them from your device, thus never making enough space to complete a sync. You will be caught in a catch 22. The solution is switch off one section (books, podcasts, etc.) completely and then back on.

That's not a bug, that's a feature! Sorry, I felt a bit Sonyish. Perhaps it detects that your disabled selections wouldn't create enough space anyway, so it didn't even get that far before alerting you you needed more space.

No, it doesn't. It told me that I was missing 12 MB. I unchecked a couple of podcasts that were already on my iPhone. Got the same message of 12 MB missing. And the unchecked podcasts were still on my iPhone. Previously they would have been deleted of the iPhone.

Then I unchecked podcasts completely, synced, checked podcasts section again, synced again, suddenly I had over 100 MB free.

Another bug

Unchecking the Genius checkbox in General in the preferences has no effect whatsoever.

You're right, colours are crap! That's why Apple removed them from iTunes 10 :D

Does anyone know how to get the album title and artist back BELOW the cover art in the hybrid view? I don't know why they moved that information to the right of the artwork. Well, I do, since they have that automatic 5-song formula... But they should really let you switch it back. Is there a terminal hack or anything?

It sucks because it cuts off like half of my album titles.

Anyone figured out a way to remove 'Ping' completely from the source list under 'Store' (I have no interest in Ping)? I can get rid of the Store and Ping together but not separately... and I want to keep the store link.

I agree this is atrocious design and a terrible use of space.
Scrolling vertically is not a problem but nobody wants to scroll horizontally.
Horizontal space should never be sacrificed to save vertical space in this context.

Maybe everyone should complain to Apple about it
