Same thing. iTunes is up to date. I've installed iOS 7 GM, can't sync with old iTunes 11.0.5 for a few days. I'm still waiting...

Just download iTunes 11.1 beta 2.

----------

Calm down and tell me when i can upgrade from the latest iTunes beta to the release version :)

At least the beta version works.

In Mavericks DP8, they included an update build with a new iOS app sorter. It's pretty cool.

I agree. Whether they believe they have enough capacity or not, the best plan would be to stagger the releases with iTunes first so people can prepare.

They should've had iTunes out yesterday, the absolute latest today.

Anything else is poor planning.

So it's poor planning indeed then, given that it's now the 18th in Cupertino too.

There was no need to expect the customer to download both iTunes and iOS 7.0 on the same day.

Will be surprised if everyone can download both when they want and without delay / error.

Wasnt this often the case though? I'm pretty sure I recall at least a few iOS updates that would come out in the same day as iTunes updates that were compatible with them.

Probably, but you always hope for a change for the better where common sense prevails.

If I want to update my iPhone to iOS 7 later this day, do I need iTunes 11.1 or do I only need iTunes 11.1 for synching my media?

Thanks

If you update OTA you're ok. If you want to update via computer you need 11.1. And if you ever plan to buy a new iPhone ever again, sync media, restore, or back up your phone to your computer, you need to update iTunes.

Maybe they allowed older versions of itunes to work with final iOS 7 release.

iTunes radio is being released today along with iOS 7 so a updated is needed for that feature to work. Does not work with previous versions of iTunes.

Ok, thank you! :)
But that means I either need the iTunes 11.1 beta or hope that Apple releases iTunes 11.1 today too..
I don't like OTA updates just a habit :D

Apple will NOT release iOS 7 without 11.1 because it would strand users with being unable to backup and load media from their iTunes (if they use local backup etc.) so obviously 11.1 is coming today.

That makes sense, so also, Apple doesn't want to force it's users to OTA the update, well atleast not now...I can see themselves releasing the update sooner then later.
Plus, it's only 8:10 in New York, so relax. :)

Sigh. You don't need the new iTunes to update your phone. If you download the correct ipsw file for your device (I'm sure people will post links to them, direct from Apple's servers) you can use the current version of iTunes to update it to iOS 7. You just won't be able to do anything with iTunes and your phone AFTER the update is complete.

I don't think users will be able to update from iOS 6 to iOS 7 via OTA, it's gonna have to be an iTunes restore or update.

Adam.

But you need the new iTunes to sync the iDevice to create a backup after iOS7 is installed...

And why exactly do you think that?

Of course they will let you update from iOS 6 to iOS 7 OTA

OTA update feature came with iOS 5, yet when iOS 6 came out we all had to update via iTunes.

Just a gut feeling, I could be wrong.

Adam.

Was it? Ok my bad, I'll take it back.

Thanks for clearing that up

Adam.

No probs.

It is troubling that the required version of iTunes has not yet launched. I assumed it would come out early in the week in order to make sure everyone was ready to go - it's not like there were any surprises left.

Either it'll just be a late launch or there may be some fiddling to iOS 7 to allow it to work. It's not totally unprecedented for the final release to be a number or two different to the GM build due to showstopper bugs however it's a bit late for that sort of thing.
