@bogdanw,
First of all, thank you SO much for making this, you're truly a life saver. I already accepted i'll have to use finder and apple music with their loads of issues, but this is a breath of fresh air! I went bold and installed 11.0.5 on macOS 26.1 on my macbook M4, got the dmg from https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/ITunes#macOS_versions.

I used the updated sequoia script to install and can confirm it works mostly.
What works:
- running with SIP on
- managing music (automatically scanned and added my apple music local files)
- connecting to ipod (sync not yet tested)
- iTunes store!!!
- radio

What doesn't:
- trying to switch media library to anything else (movies, tv, podcasts) from music crashes the app immediately
- clicking airplay also crashes
- component not installed -42401 on startup, i don't know what that influences but it runs after clicking OK
- both crash reasons i found return Namespace SIGNAL, Code 4, Illegal instruction: 4 for termination reason

Are there any fixes for these issues? I'd prefer using version 11.x or 10.x if possible.
Once again, i could not be any more thankful for this.

I couldn’t make any progress with iTunes 11.0.5 installed with the script, but I might have something better for you.

Install iTunes 11.4 using Retroactive 2.1 https://github.com/cormiertyshawn895/Retroactive/releases

From Terminal run:

Code:
sudo codesign --force --sign - /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes

sudo codesign --force --sign - /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes.app

sudo codesign --force --sign - /Applications/iTunes.app

iTunes 11.4 should now start and switching to movies doesn’t cause a crash.

Thanks for the reply and help, i have used retroactive before on my intel mac and tried on my M4 a while ago, but failed and gave up. Now i tried again and turns out with these terminal commands it actually runs! Now i can navigate to movies/tv shows/etc and can even use airplay without crashing, but adding my apple music local files crashes it once again. Do you happen to know of any v11.x or older versions that should run without issues? Sorry for bothering with this and thank you for your help.

When you mentioned the crashing when adding local files, that happened to me once. When I relaunched and went back in to do it again, it was fine. This was using iTunes 10.7 under Sequoia. That version does not display correctly in Tahoe using CoverFlow mode but still works overall. You might have a corrupt preference file left over from the last iTunes installation.

i've tried multiple times, but it always crashed for some reason. so i installed 10.7 using retroactive and weirdly enough, seems like this version doesn't have any issues aside from coverflow being messed up, like you said. it even created the phase playlist for the clickwheel game!

10.7 does work fine in Sequoia. Are you using Tahoe? Maybe a future Tahoe update will correct the issue but not holding my breath.

Retroactive can install 12.9 - is it grabbing the file from somewhere (outside of a Mohave installer) - has anyone been able to capture that version outside of the Retroactive program?

There's no separate dmg file for 12.9 coz it was bundled with Mojave, so the only way is through extraction from installer. Anyway, 12.9 is so buggy in my case, constantly crashing during tag edits or dropping very settings after closing. 12.8 is working great tho 💪

The developer explained here why it needs to be extracted from the full Mojave installer
