Do iPods require firmware updates to support Podcasts?

If so, I expect that we'll see those soon as well.

A "Podcasts" menu showed up in my Playlists on my 4G iPod after the second reboot. I surprised, actually; I thought it would require an iPod updater. Apparently, as far as the iPod is concerned, it's just a playlist.

The iTMS Postcast tab is a mess. Podcasts are the sort of thing you would look for heiarchically more so than by searching or looking the "what's new" bin. Hope Apple fixes that.

When you play the iTunes New Music Tuesday Podcast, it pops up a toggle on the top of iTunes to toggle to the different sections of the podcast. Sort of like DVD chapters.

It doesn't seem to work on my 4G iPod, but that would probably be a firmware thing.

The store is still down (up to the minute updates between us all ) however it is "next Tuesday" so expect something great and then expect to be disappointed, and then everyone start a new thread about how next Tuesday we'll get iTunes 4.10, OSX 10.4.19, and iPDA

I am hoping a phone, that would be pretty sweet. Is there talk of what providers it will work on or is this a domestic-use phone? I haven't really heard much about it, can someone fill me in with details on it?
