add me to the list... the title threw me off pretty bad. I thought there was going to be an option to extend the rentals for a 1 week period. :(

And theres a reason that HD rentals arent available on computers? To think I would have considered paying money to watch an HD movie, looks like my only option is still torrent. No money for apple, no money for the MPAA, sorry guys. Maybe one day theyll actually figure out how to give consumers what they want so they dont resort to piracy.

It's because if you have the file on your computer you can hack it and "unlock" it for infinite viewing. If it stays on the AppleTV, it takes much more effort to even start the hacking process.

To this day, I have not read about anyone who has located the HD file that is downloaded and figured out how to play it.

Say, am I the only one who can't share his iTunes library over the network anymore since either Leopard or a subsequent update, or one of the two dozen iTunes updates since last Fall?
I'm not using it all that often, but today I could have used that feature.

Has anyone tried to download The Hours? It keeps telling me that "my selection is being modified and cannot be downloaded at this time." Anyone else getting that too?

99¢ Rentals?
OMG APPLE!!!!

You keep that up and even offer a couple each week from different genres and I'll be buying an :apple: TV very soon!

That special pricing is an excellent lost leader to get units in living rooms and increase iTunes' movie selections.

I love the Hours - one of my all time favorites - the acting in it is top notch and the story is heartbreaking.

Whoops I started reading the Plot Summary. It begins: "Three women," and then I fell asleep.

:p

Fixed Streaming Photos?

Does this fix the lack of streaming photos, from the sync'd machine?

:apple:TV 1.1, used to let you sync some photo's, but you could also stream the rest of your collection. Now you can only seem to sync them - if your whole library doesn't fit, then you're hooped.

Exactly

I am pretty sure this has a lot to do with it.

does this fix the 1.1.3 bugs for ipod touches in any way? i'm still afraid to update to 1.1.3 :(

Oh,
well... I've located the file on my Apple TV. Transformers HD was about 4.5 GB. But then, I didn't bother to copy it over to my mac to try playing it outside the ATV - gonna try that soon I think...

So who wants to check that this update does squash the 24 hour bug where you can pause a film and come back 36 hours later and continue watching it?

I don't really think that's a bug, and I'd be surprised if this update changes that. My guess is that this update is to close OTHER loopholes people have already found that allow extending the 24 hour period even more.

And theres a reason that HD rentals arent available on computers?

Probably DRM issues dictated by the studios, I'm guessing it's because the computers don't have video outputs that the studios consider secure.

I still think the whole rental thing is useless until they offer films in 1080p and don't require you to have an AppleTV. Not allowing HD rentals on your computer is crap.

can anyone confirm if this fixes the bug of not being able to change/add movie artwork on networked drives?
