Whoops I started reading the Plot Summary. It begins: "Three women," and then I fell asleep.

:p

LOL well its Julian Moore - she's great. Really its $.99 if you don't like it your not missing out on much. However its not a chick flick really - even though the basic premiss of the movie is how women in the 50's/60's deal with life in that time frame (Nicole Kidman is amazing in her part as well.) The other issues it discusses is closeted gay husbands and interracial relationships. The color of the film and the cinematography is amazing as well. But eh not all films are for all people :D

Wow. I must say that Safari feels a whole lot snappier now.

I wondered how long that would take. Why can't Firefox ever be snappier? If the $0.99 movie rentals don't end up being as bad as the usual free song downloads, I might try it. Borne and Jon McLaughlin excluded.

Although I mostly buy DVD's and have never 'rented' a film on-line; this ".99 cent" pricing will interest me to rent a film from iTunes.

Anyone know if there is a $1 option for HD on the the $.99 movies?
I refuse to watch anything in SD on my 52" LCD.

Has anyone tried to download The Hours? It keeps telling me that "my selection is being modified and cannot be downloaded at this time." Anyone else getting that too?

I get that too.. Also, if I go to the movie's page in iTunes it shows up as $2.99... But if I click the link on the homepage here it shows up as $.99... odd.

I imagine if that plot summary beginning was attached to a...ahem...different type of movie ;), you wouldn't have drifted off so readily. Men.

EDIT: Hattiq beat me to it.

Also, fwiw, I think the reason they don't currently allow HD movies in iTunes is because iPods/iPhones can't play them back. I see them being available as a "package" in the future though; a single download that contains both the SD and HD versions (SD for iPod, etc, HD for computer). Bigger downloads, and they should give people the option.. but I still see this as where it is headed eventually.

Downloaded and installed but don't see any difference yet. The thing I did noticed is what it did with my iphone. My 25 most played smart playlist was always wrong and seemed like it had the 25 least played or something. Now it's corrected so I don't know if this update fixed that, either way I'm glad to have smart playlists that actually work on the iphone!

I still think the whole rental thing is useless until they offer films in 1080p and don't require you to have an AppleTV. Not allowing HD rentals on your computer is crap.

I have to wonder what the market would be for HD movie download rentals. How long does it take to download a HD movie on the average user's connection?

Too long to bother. In my mind HD rentals cannot take off until there is a real increase in internet speeds.

I WANT:

FrontRow interface to be as cool, and HD-friendly, as AppleTV Take 2 !!!!!!!!

Make it happen APPLE!

I think there's a few changes to FrontRow they could make to make purchasing a lot easier for users. For instance, for TV shows they could make it so that there's a "purchase next episode" button so that people may compulsively buy the next episode once they've finished watching one.

Once again, i'm not overly concerned about HD movie rentals (or even any rentals or movie purchases). I'm mainly interested with how they can improve the marketing and simplicity of sales of TV purchases.

Say, am I the only one who can't share his iTunes library over the network anymore since either Leopard or a subsequent update, or one of the two dozen iTunes updates since last Fall?
I'm not using it all that often, but today I could have used that feature.

Yes, you are the only one with this problem.

Bug fix confirm?

For those "suffering" from these bugs from 7.6 and earlier...

- Every video stutters once after about 9 seconds or so
- New CDs unmount automatically after retrieving Gracenote data

...are these (hopefully) now fixed in the new update?

Weird huh?

There obviously must be something we're not calculating right, or just can't see the master business plan here.

It would be great to buy / rent HD content direct on my iMac. I don't mind the resolution so much, but HD content only on the TV seems strange.

I nodded out after "well it's Julian"... ;-)

You are absolutely right! I had a 25 most played playlist and a recent 100 songs playlist. Both have never given me the correct playlist. My recent 100 playlist had songs that I have had for years. I never removed the playlists, but gave up on using them on my iPhone. After reading your post I synced my iPhone with the new iTunes and checked those playlists on my phone... BAM! They are actually showing up the way that they should be.

I am glad you found this because I don't know how long I would have gone not even looking at those playlists before actually noticing that they were displayed correctly.

I hope this update will fix iTunes/iPhone synching/ backup.

Previously, if you checked your Console log, some folks were finding that iTunes would error out and skip over your SMS logs. Meaning your so-called backed up iPhone wasn't actually backed up after all.

*fingers crossed*

:edit: Weird, Console logs don't show the same mishap, and yet, it's still not updating for me with Syphone. Sigh. :(

The scene with Ed Harris and the window... always gives me chills.

And theres a reason that HD rentals arent available on computers? To think I would have considered paying money to watch an HD movie, looks like my only option is still torrent. No money for apple, no money for the MPAA, sorry guys. Maybe one day theyll actually figure out how to give consumers what they want so they dont resort to piracy.

The answer to your question is quite simple:

The reason is 99.99% of the people don't care to watch HD content on their computer screen. They'd rather watch it on their larger HDTV with a sweet surround sound set up, and a recliner and couch....

EDIT: And dozens of other reasons previously pointed out by others.
