7.7.1 appears to have fixed the issue where app purchases on the iPhone didn't transfer to your applications library in iTunes. Now all of my apps appear in both places.

Don't notice anything else yet. Backup of the iPhone took a long time, but maybe it is doing a full backup due to the iTunes update (better be safe then sorry).

what if my phone rings during this backup process? does it have to start from the beginning?

Yeah usually the backup has to restart, but if you just click the little "x" on the right hand side, it will bypass the backup and just start syncing the phone.

Not really sure why anyone needs to do a backup

If you accidentally delete some important SMS's or something along those lines, it's a lifesaver having the backup. It's nice to know you can restore your iPhone to a state it was in yesterday or the day before (it keeps multiple backups I believe). I think its a great feature but the backups with 2.0 are taking way too long.

I'm sick of the app updating getting totally screwed. iTunes wants to keep updating apps I've already updated and then they get overwritten on my iPhone with the older versions. What the hell is the workaround for this?

Dammit, OS X is turning into Windows. I am sick of having to go "under the hood" to temporarily fix stuff.

Works great with my Touch....... now when I plug in the Touch I no longer get the spinning beachball for the next 90 seconds.

There's definitetly something going on with the app store. I've only just upgraded but haven't synced yet. I thought I'd visit the appstore on the iphone first, and there there were a slew of app updates, none of which could be installed, and about 30 dialogs telling me to sync and "check for purchases"... I'm a little worried, but I think it'll be ok... Hmm...

I suspect this was one of the major issues they wanted to correct because it happened with my iPhone and iPod...

Still no "error 5002" fix. I see the error whenever i go to check for new updates to apps. Also whenever there's an update, i have to first delete the app file from my mac, then download it, then sync it to my iphone. Otherwise it will just create a copy of the file and append a 1 to the end of the file name. Very annoying.

I don't believe this will fix the iPhone sluggish performance of late. Probably 2.1 will fix it.

...macs don't get those cryptic error messages...

atleast cryptic messages allow you to look them up and get a very good idea of what is going on. none of this generic error stuff which helps no regular user find out what the issue is.

im gonna renew my call again this time.

Apple should implement partial download method for this type of 0.1/0.01 updates. 40+MB is just not necessary, and not good for users with slow network speed.

iTunes 8 Please

iTunes 8 please... I am able to stand iTunes less and less as more is added. It reminds me of Windows; it doesn't seem to have that great of a foundation, yet features are added faster than bugs are fixed.

iTunes is the worst Apple app I use. Still much better than Windows Media Player or RealPlayer (now that's a joke). But I know Apple could make it amazing. And I think they will, seeing as how they are taking their time with it. It has been out for almost 2 years now, the second longest lasting version in iTunes history (iTunes 4.0, which lastest 2 years and 2 months, I believe).

Ringtone support?

By virtue of the fact that I happened to have my library sorted by ringtone compatibility, when it started up after the update I noticed that none of my songs have that flag available now.

Phbbbbbbt.

It still auto backups whenever I attach my ipod touch and now it's asking me to update every single application when one needs to be updated. Do they even test these updates?

The very simple reason of, if your phone dies or screws up like a few of the ones i've seen, you'll be totally pissed off when you lose Every contact and picture and email settings you have spent months (or years) to accumulate.

I just replaced a family member's phone at an apple store, they handed me a different unit no questions asked and i took it home and synced from backup, and you wouldn't know he has a different phone.

All because of that silly simply little backup.

I try to back up once a week or so, but definitely backing up more than that seems a little ridiculous to me. My phone has this bug and takes around 2 hours to backup so i cannot afford to screw around with it more than that anyway. Wish they'd FIX that problem too its bugging me.

I am currently testing this new iTunes out with my iPhone. Before almost every time I tried to uninstall applications from my iPhone via iTunes, my phone would crash and would require a restore. So, here goes nothing...

It is currently uninstalling the second of three applications. I currently have over 45 apps on my phone. I will post back in a little bit to see if it works.
