unless im missing something am i the only one who doesn't see these as radical changes..i was hoping for a completely different itunes, but it just looks the same but with some new features that i may not ever use...

I agree. Nothing of real interest to me. Unless there is some surprise, I don't know why they need a special event.

If this is the biggest part of the update, then iTunes 8 isn't revolutionary. If he is right, then tomorrow is not a major event.

I hear ya, I was hoping for an itunes that went back to focusing just on music instead of trying to be like MTV and doing 300 other functions that don't belong.

I feel if it continues to operate as it does, it should be renamed from iTunes to the new iSync

yeah I was hoping to see a more radical change/update to iTunes (rename it to soundJam ;D for instance).

also, why is this kevin rose still alive? someone with such accurate (we'll see tomorrow) tips on what's coming isn't going to live long

Perhaps I am missing the obvious, but why would this be a good thing?

I would interpret this to be like "scrubbing" in iPhoto, and iMovie. If you've got 8 albums by an artist and can't remember which one contains the song you want (or the name of the song) you could get a quick overview of the album by moving your mouse over the cover art.

I am incredibly unimpressed, too. New iPods- color, size or price- is a footnote not a keynote, unless there is some new functionality, which I am not seeing.

Looking at the Rose mock up, two things strike me.

1) The cover view is a nice new way to look at things, but again does not really make this an event.

2) Look how dated the iTunes is as a whole.

iTunes needs a total re-do, from the ground up. New look... and fix all the sorting and playing issues. I would like to LOOSE some functionality- iTunes sucks too many resources these days. But even with all that (and I know that will not be happening!), this looks to be a non-event... but a ground-up remake of iTunes would be welcome.

As a Windows XP user, I don't give a crap about any new features. iTunes does what it needs to do. What I would like to see in iTunes 8 is a faster, more responsive interface. I'd like things to come up WHEN I CLICK ON THEM, not after a 10 second delay. I'd like the scrolling to be smooth, like it is in every other Windows application. I'd like to be able to click on the scroll bar, and move it up and down in a normal fashion, instead of clicking on a phantom spot and having it move in a jerky manner.

I've wanted to buy an iPod Touch for so long now, the only thing stopping me was the lack of memory. When I first heard about this event I was sure that Apple would announce a 64GB version but over the last few days I've began to doubt this. I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling that those of us looking to buy an iPod Touch will be pretty disappointed tomorrow.

Interesting to see that the sort option can handle 'Composers'. Does this mean that iTunes can finally handle classical music properly?

It has always seemed to me that Apple is not interested in making iTunes work well with Classical music…

Remember how long it took for gapless playback to make it into iTunes? :(

touch upgrade?

this mean that the ipod touch will not have more memory? so the 64gb was just a rumor? great... i really wanted one...:(

If it IS Magnetosphere

then I'll be very interested in whether any other 'Processing' code could execute as an iTunes visualisation?

Hi, Newbie here!

My wish for iTunes 8 is that coverflow is life coverflow on the iPhone, when you click on it, it flips over, and shows the album tracks, not that strange list view hybrid that we have now....

Interesting. I use iTunes on XP at work, and don't see any of teh problems you stated. The scrolling is very responsive, and I don't get any 10 second (or even 1 second) delays. I've got a library with 17456 songs in it.

hmm...

Guys, you are mostly ALL believing this and saying how hardly anything has changed.

but seriously, We are all just reling on Kevin Rose to spoil it for us Before jobs tells us.

Infact i'd rather get all exited about an event and no nothing about it rather than get all these picky little rumours

Oh well.

Just Wait until tomorrow. I know that steve wont let us down. Why would he hold such a huge event for just an iTunes update and a Nano revamp.

I know he has some snazzy iRocks up his sleeve... or in his right pocket... :D

I too didn't have any of those problems with a library of that size, but with an 8,000 song library it happens even on a Mac.

who is

This kevin rose person? he is singlehandedly spoiling the whole show! Regardless of whether we think the things that have been spoken about already are no big deal, the mystery and excitement in anticipation of an Apple event has finally evaporated.

Certainly hope Kevin's been fed a bunch of nonsense so we can really be surprised tomorrow!

He wouldn't have to have a connection to the development team.

I know someone that works for iPhone support (LOW on the Apple food chain) and he knew about the updated iTunes a few weeks ago (only mentioned that there were mainly aesthetic changes). Apple must tell their support people certain things ahead of time so they can begin supporting the new features right away.

I wish they would effing fix iTunes so it doesn't scroll so slow on the PC (this is the case on at least 3 different PC's with various specs and video cards). How can scrolling be so butter-smooth on a little iPod/iPhone/Touch, when it's choppy on a PC which is 10x more powerful? Is it because all my music is MP3 with actual embedded album art in the files?

What about the iPod Hi-Fi, I thought there was definitely going to be an update this time round - come on Apple, Let's Rock!
