I'm running the alpha of iTunes 10 which is extremely buggy. It really makes me appreciate how finely tuned iTunes 9 is. Not to mention that the choice in iTunes 10 to eliminate playlists and replace them with an automated process called iJay is even more confusing than Genius. Some features should never see the light of day.

Good grief what on earth were they thinking? There has to be something wrong, it looks just like a unselected window.

I hate this as well, I keep selecting the iTunes window trying to bring it to the front thinking that it's not selected. What a horrible design choice.

LOL :D

I kinda like the new look... I dunno... Something different I guess

Home server is a bit improved but I still don't get where it displays only a list and not a graphical view

Yeah, i don't like the white background either. Overall, it is nice. I like how they changed the iPhone synching menus', but i will be glad when someone compiles the art bin files (i SL uses those even..) I miss my black iTunes 8.2 ...

I thought I would try and stick it out, but after noticing a few sorting bugs + the truly horrid design I went back using time machine. Thank goodness for that!

white background really sucks!!!!!!!!!

a option like iphoto for change???? with drop shadow or outline??? white or black!!!! white really are tooo bad apple!!!!!!!!! BUT MOVES LIKE SNIPPER! I have 400gb of music, when close and open the thing are slow, or for searchs between artist, but now are tooo fast! and I dont have Snow Leopard!

How did u get itunes to look like that? I have 9 too?

Hey all. I'm new here obviously. Does anyone have any idea why my store looks like this? Is it an itunes problem or a browser problem? Thanks in advance for any suggestion you have that might help.

Not sure about the new UI.

Hate the white back ground - get back in black.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that I can once again browse in list view without the bloody Genre column! This option has been missing from iTunes for far too long! And is the one big reason I'm not even considering going back to itunes 8.

Ugh, I can't believe they'd phone the design in like that. 9/9/09 was not a good day for Apple. The white background is just so garish and painful to look at, I want my lovely black background back! Sent feedback already, I hope others will too. Apple is becoming too detached from the consumers, methinks.

I dont get why everyone hates the white. It looks fine to me. And I think the new window look is neat. I mean... its a nice change from all the other windows but doesnt look to out of place either.

Designers and artists tend to be sticklers about these kinds of things. Can't add a gradient without us noticing. And questioning it! :D

Put it in grid view. Go to View > Grid View and select “Show Header”. Click “Artists” in the header. Go to View > Grid View and select “Group Artists”.

You could remove the genre column in iTunes 8 with a Terminal command.

I kinda like the new UI. The gradient has a very subtle texture, which I think is a nice touch. I don't like the white background though, but it's no big deal. I wish they could put an "Appearance" tab like iPhoto where you could adjust the background colour between white and black.

It actually looks like iTunes 9 was designed to appeal more to windows users than mac users, mac users already have iTunes, it's the windows people who apple needs to get to increase the share of iTunes. iTunes 9 fits nicely within the windows GUI.

Wow. My blood pressure just went up. I realize Mac users don't have a lock on iTunes but... but... sputter... {moves to back of bus?} without us Mac types, there would never have been an iTunes for Windows.

I haven't installed iTunes 9 yet. Well I'll try it on my MacBook Air first and if I don't like it then I'll Time Machine the thing back while I rethink my need to use the iTunes Store any more!

Last night the store was complaining about my 8.2.1 iTunes version when I went to put some movie in my shopping cart on my workhorse machine, a blackjack running Leopard. It didn't specifically say I couldn't buy or rent the movie but rather said something about "some features on this page may require an upgrade to iTunes 9" in an overlay at the top of the store panel. I had an ominous feeling at that moment. I mean it's not like I was trying to buy an HD movie onto a G3 ibook or something. I think I was going to rent a movie of the week or buy it at the reduced price.

Anyway I quit the Store without pursuing the transaction, and downloaded the iTunes 9 upgrade, but so far I've just been reading about it rather than applying it. I regret to say that nothing I've read so far actually inspires me to skip the guinea-pig routine with the Air and go straight to the blackjack for the upgrade. But the MacBook Air is very brave and anyway knows the drill by now (no choice is the drill). So first thing tomorrow it will sign up for iTunes 9 and I hope it likes it and I like it, because I do want to rent that darn movie while it's still 99c.

How do I get the Genre column back? I browse by genre and am not interested in a list of artists at the top level. I've a large collection and tend to use the genre for deciding what to listen to. For instance when in the mood for Prog Rock, I don't want to see pop/hip hop/whatever.

Definitely a retrograde step on the UI for me.

Seems the iPhone UI has taken over at Apple. "People love the iPhone. Hint! Let's make all our products look like it!"

I can probably get used to the white background but damn, iTunes Store is horrible. It's slow to load with all of the graphical transitions, it feels like a damn flash site. I think the window will look a lot better with a darker background, the white really makes it stand out too much. Hopefully, Apple will let us change it with a slider...but I think they are getting away from being user-friendly with their products.

I've been complaining about the iTunes UI downgrades for a few versions now. The buttons and icons keep getting worse... always hated the ugly purply mud colored flat scrollbars, the super cheesy play/stop button set in 8, and on and on. The only thing they seemed to have corrected here was take some of the mud out of the sidebar background tint. But the new UI in general looks more like some 2000ish version of realplayer or something.

yeah it's definitely cheesy. i'm glad i don't use iTunes that much, short of syncing iPods/iPhones, i never really open the application.

Don't know what you're talking about. It is completely standard iTunes 9.

There are lines to divide the each artist by letter and says information on each line on the right.

Found out how to do it now its in the view options.

I hate the white.

I want black.

I'm browsing movies.

I don't like the black on the new format. I can't see the line around the boxes.

When did Apple start hiring crappy designers? The ones that failed their basic design classes? This thing.... sucks.

And the inconsistent spacing on the App store is beyond bad.... (like click on "games"). FIrst "box" at the top, then a small space between to the next box.... then a HUGE space on the next. Then nothing is the same on the horizontal spacing. Make it all the same people.

I'm running Tiger on my laptop - it's definitely Safari 4 based because i hadn't upgraded yet and had to before it would install. I'm going to go see if the spacing is mucked like this on the Leopard machine, and if it's easier to see stuff on the black under Leopard.

I think the "box" at the top is supposed to be a banner type header like on the other areas, hence it would be hard coded at the top like they are... but this is just a box of apps, and it just doesn't work or look pleasing.
