Sadly, this is true. Using the cloud to its full potential precludes the use of any sort of data cap. What happens when you're close to the cap? Is it really user-friendly to expect people to turn off all their data services when they come close? I wouldn't think so.

Sorry but that's not my experience at all. I've got the lowest possible data allowance on O2 in the UK and almost never use half of it in the month. Why? Because I use wifi at home, wifi at work, when you're out and about in any major city there's usually some form of free wifi most places you stop and when there's not O2 include access to their own network of wifi hotspots as part of the data deal. 3G for me is only used to fill in when nothing else is available and most of the time I've got it turned off as edge is good enough to pull down email updates and the like when I'm not actively using the device.

For a very limited number of users it may be an issue but the vast majority will, I suspect, be fine.

You're referring to iTunes Match.

At the moment, it doesn't appear to be an option to anybody outside of the US. But this may (hopefully) change when iOS 5 is released later on today.

Given the choice, I much prefer to actually own the content. Yes, it'll cost me more but I'm ok with that rather than having access to stream songs rather than own the rights to that copy of the song. Funny how things turn around, I do still love Spotify, but I've really been waiting for iTunes in the Cloud for years really so that's my personal preference.
That's it! iTunes Match! Cheers bigmikey. Got a bit carried away with myself am guessing that still lots of licensing issues to resolve internationally

This is another benefit which makes such a difference to the whole iThis&that debate.....proves it is the only way forward

....just downloading an album again to listen to on the way home...

Perfect Apple.....well done from the uk

no, expect that @ around 6pm BST. But you don't need iOS5 for this. It's all dynamically activated by apple remotely.

thanks

i just tried it .. downloaded the free song off itunes and it almost instantly started downloading on my computer .. amazing this is

It's working for me here in the UK but...

I've converted all of my iTunes purchases to mp3 - same tags and artwork as the purchased items - but it doesn't see them as songs, saying that they're not on this iPhone, so it then gives me the option to download duplicates.

Poor show.

How about deleting songs from iOS to save space?

Great able to download purchased songs, but how do I delete songs from my iPad without iTunes? Will ios5 enable this?

What is the point of this feature? So you can download some songs you have download before to your phone. And?

I'm in the Netherlands and it doesn't work for me:confused: I'm running the latest version of iOS.

I don't see it in the Netherlands, may be after the release of iOS5?

I don't know why it's not working for you guys. I'm here in the Netherlands as well, and it definitely works for me. I'm also on the latest iOS 4 version, from my iPod Touch. This screenshot shows my iPod downloading a song automatically after I downloaded it on my MacBook Pro.

Yep - in any of the views, just hold down on an item until the familiar X appears in the top left hand corner. click it and the matching items are deleted
If you want to delete individual songs from the song list, just swipe from right to left on the item and then click the delete button

Just noticed that purchases I made today from my computer have downloaded to phone as well. I'm in the U.S.
