I bet on the 12 hes gonna say how the nano sales are and how well itunes is doing. Than he is gonna bring up his comment and maybe show a clip from the special event last year(ipod photo and socks) than hes gonna say ooops I lied and introduce the ipod video.
sneaky sneaky :D

Steve doesn't lie.

He just distorts reality to fit what he previously said.

I can't wait till he takes back the 'OS wars are over' comment.

Also, if you look at that screen, it just looks like a piece of thin printed plastic, there is no gap between the casing and where the screen would be. Look at the colour screened iPod alongside it to see what I mean, (thin black outline), or here as another example. That screen looks too perfect, (printed), and too close to the outer casing.

Huh? That image with the iPod video device is quite old and is just a 3D rendering. I can't remember where I saw it, but it was one of those sites with galleries of concept Apple products (not made by Apple and that have a logo with an "unbitten" apple).
I believe I saw that image a little after the iPod Photo was released. Nice concept work, though.

im so over this whole ipod thing.. i mean really, who cares anymore? its just add on stuff and more features and really re-badging a four year old product. apple needs to come out with some totally new, excitingly fresh. something that made fifty people wait in line back in 1998 when the new imac came out at a local compusa by my house.

Now that we have Intel Inside, 2 button mouse, lots of iPods...

We need a VIRUS!!!

This would be new for sure. Every single mac user would get one! and it would atract lots of PC users.

Thats is steve is releasing the first mac OS X virus!

Yes, there hasn't been any big innovation in the iPod since color screens/photos and constant size reductions, but's that's been enough to get the sells going. I don't think the nano has sold as little as some say and on the contrary believe it is going to be much more successful than previous iPods. Apple would probably be well along with just updating the iPod on Wednesday, but I also wish they would release something completely new like a PDA. Something like the LifeDrive from Palm One would be awesome. Apple could use the 4 and 6GB hard drives they no longer use on the minis. I was about to buy one (a LifeDrive) a few weeks ago but thought I should wait a little to see if there was something new near the end of the year. Here's to hoping... :p

Actually stores probably make more $ off Macs since they have a bigger profit margin. Most store clerks don't know anything about Macs thus they push what the know.

for resellers there is very little margin on macs. it's about 8%, 6% edu.

Yup. Around 7%, possibly 8% at CompUSA. That's why the sales people hate selling Mac's, no room for negotiaition.

However, as a consumer I feel more comfortable buying a Mac anywhere knowing that I'm not gonna open up the newspaper and see an ad for the same Mac I just bought at a cheaper price at a nearby reseller. This is often the case with miCrapsoft run hardware.

I don't care for the winBlows' computer manufacturer "swap meet" mentality. It's cheap, just like their computers... and not cheap in a good way.

Nah ... it's a scintillating idea, but Bush's head would explode. Homeland Security just isn't ready to cope with an OS-X virus. We'd be totally dependent on foreign (possibly French!) sources for an OS-X virus vaccine. It would lead to chaos in the streets. Perhaps a change in the balance of power in Congress.

On second thought ... let's get right on it.

2009: Mac OS X 10.6 Lynx is released. Intel only
2010: Steve retires
2011: Intel buys out Apple
2012: iPod trademark sold to Creative technologies
2013: Macs switch to Windows OS
2014: Intel sells Apple to Dell.
2015: Power Mac XPS and PowerBook Inspiron are released on Windows 2014
2016: Creative release iPod micro 2 and zenPod
2017: Apple goes bankrupt
2018: Apple is liquidated.

:p

This is what Intel has done for Apple

Wow. That is amazingly unfunny. The thought of it makes me want to throw up......
Apple and Dell mixing. Oh my God. The thought really freaked me out.

yesterday I wanted to buy an ibook. The seller told me that mac's aren't good anough. For the same price I would find better pcs. I specify that he sells macs and pcs, so he gains the same money by selling pcs or macs!! Why do they tell me always to buy a pc instead of a mac?

They're all evil fascists!!! jk. I think that retailers gain more by selling pcs...... If you have an Apple store close enough, definately go there. I have one about 10min from where I live now. Yay! :p

After watching the video clip on MSNBC from this past wednesday, they seem fairly certain that the video iPod will be released.
God, since when do we believe the mainstream media? ;) Steve probably has an IQ about a hundred points over the person who produced the news show. I don't know if I'd really trust many outside sources about that stuff.... Oh, btw, does anyone know Steve's IQ?

Nah, he'd just hand out Nano's at the front door and we'd all wander off giggling and chattering about what a great guy he is.

BTW, I've come up with a name for the version of OS-X to run on the new Apple PDA Phone / Mac Nano: OS-X Kitty.

Let's do it for the free nanos!
:)

You really should thank the media, they are the only reason why we know what's really going on. Think about the secrets the gov would love to hide from us, but the media usually tells us the truth.
A certain 1984 Apple commercial somes to mind, would you like to be one of those IBM freaks that just march down the isle with no clue as to what's going on?
You have seen the 1984 Apple commercial, right?

Right...

If I dont get news till dusk I'll really be pissed of with Mr. Steve... he'll ruin my Kol Nidre. There is no way I can concentrate on praying with "one more thing" on my head.

I wish an easy Yom Kipur for all the jewish readers of this forum :) with plenty of good news...
Thank you for giving me something to look forward to, besides a day of prayer. And a wonderful Yom Tov to you too.

Sweet!

Thinksecret

That would be sweet if they came out with a 40 and 80 GB iPod in both White and Black! Since I plan on getting a new iPod with the Powerbook that I'll be getting (really hoping they update them) I would definately get a 40 GB Black iPod.

Four new mac configurations? Sounds like PowerBooks to me... Could be the 12" two 15" and the 17" PBs. I really don't think we'll see PowerMacs updated yet. They really aren't that close to the end of their "product cycle" according to the MR buyer's guide. PowerBook on the other hand...

Wow, a Black 80gb iPod! And 4 new Mac "Configurations"
Configurations being the keyboard in that line, probably just slight speedbumps to 1.8ghz.

That deserves the Media's Attention??????? gotta be something more. sorry folks, just not believing Think Secret this time around.

Two problems with the Thinksecret article:

1) I don't think SJ would introduce new mainstream macs (powerbooks, powermacs, etc) at a press-only event. More likely at a conference, such as MacWorld or WWDC.

2) The Thinksecret says nothing about my new Phone/PDA. I've built too much of my life around that anticipation for it not to be true. Therefore, Thinksecret must be wrong.

I second that. The media would never answer another invite if that is all that Apple had for them.
