Wow, that look pretty bad. Seems more like just a phone that supports DMR AAC files then a iTunes phone. Drag and drop?

Noooooooo, you think? That's all this was supposed to be! Altohugh I did expect a better design. Now we need to see pricing and networks supported.

ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod!

now i can take music w/ me on a small portable device wherever i go???

...zzzzzzzzzzzz....

i don't know, maybe it's b/c i don't use my phone that much or maybe it's b/c i'm over tired candybar style phones, but this just doesn't excite me. hopefully it excites somebody...

I guess this is cool if you hate carrying your iPod and your cell phone. But it's really not *that* impressive. 😕

Id get this if Siemens weren't so perfect, and if I didn't already have an iPod.

looks good though. my cousin has the black version of this and its a very nice phone indeed.

Frankly speaking, I find Motorola new mobile phones interface very clunky, unappealing and slow comparing to sony ericsson phones. Hence, I don't really have high hopes for this new iTunes phone. Dragging and dropping music files? seems like this is what I have been doing with my xphoneII/i-mate SP3 all along. Nothing really new.

No thanks. I'll just get some scotch tape and stick my Shuffle onto my existing phone. Too bad Apple doesn't create phones.

I know moto designed the phone, but couldnt they at least have tried something else than making their boring bla bricks white? Lets hope moto updated the other internal features as well, or Apple might just regret this little partnership.

Hmm, I think the phone looks only OK. They could have made it look better for it to be the first iTunes compatible phone.
I don't see what the big deal is about the phone if you can't download songs from the iTMS. I don't think the phone could replace even an iPod Shuffle anyway. They should have let the phone be the Shuffle's screen. That would be a handy feature.

I don't think Apple will make too much of a buzz with this. Maybe only a small mention in the upcoming Apple Expo.

American Online

I think it's crap -- the manual says "American Online" -- What's that... Seems a little fishy to me!

parents love their kids

and so apple has to love this ugly little bastard of a phone. but isn´t it time to stop hiding behind motorola and get a proper job done? the sony walkman phone is way ahead of this junk.
don´t loose your leadership.

The Un-Apple Phone

What an ugly little bugger! Motorolas look and feel of their devices is about as Un-Apple as it can get, anyway! Tried to switch from my SonyEricsson with a cool slick interface (closest to what we love on our Mac, IMHO) to a Moto phone a few months ago. Had to switch back to SonyEricsson again because I coun't stand the messed-up Moto list-type interface with the ugliest icons ever created on this planet.

Can't believe that Apple did infact choose such an ugly interface for its first step in the cell phone market! Let me make this one clear here: Cell phones are parts of fashion -- not of pure technology anymore! You cannot sell a phone just by telling pleople how many features it has -- you have to sell them a phone they actually want to carry around with them all day.

Remains to be seen how far that iPod halo can actually glow! 🙂

I don't think you guys are being fair at all here.

The difference between the iTunes phone and the Sony Walkman phone is this:

The Sony Walkman phone, as it is now, is a >$700 phone that probably won't be released in the US anytime soon. Look, you all know Sony as well as I do, and they don't like us out here in the US, so yeah.. forget it. That phone has yuppie written all over it, right down to the price tag.

Motorola's phones are made as phones first and toys second. If you don't really believe that, maybe you're not all that familiar with them, honestly I've used a bunch of different brands of phones and although Motorola certainly doesn't necessarily have the prettiest phones, they are quite functional, here's some things I can never find *right* on other manufactuers' phones:

*Customizable main screen
*changing the ring volume/tone by the buttons on the side
*"back" "menu" "action" -- if you've ever used a samsung after using a motorola you'd pull your hair about this one not existing.
*the UI stays uniform for the most part...

which it does. Admittedly this isn't the nicest looking phone in the world, but when I look at it with its all silver design, it actually does look pretty decent, probably the nicest candybar I've seen that'll be for sale in the US in a while.

That said, the ROKR/iTunes phone will have two qualities you'll NEVER see in the Sony phone I'm positive:

1. You'll either be able to get it for cheap, or for free
2. It'll do what it does good 🙂

I dunno, feel free to flame me. I'm not a "blind apple supporter here", I just think the iTunes phone is going to be a good product.

Not to mention unlike the lousy two-tone scheme of the walkman phone, this can actually match your powerbook if you have one 😀

Ugly I wonder how many songs it will hold (considering they have said it won't dl them).
Yeah, that's the real sticking point for me. I've almost bought a razr, but I can never find specs (or a stupid salesperson) that would give me a hint of capacity. Add to that Moto/Cingular's current weirdness about transfering files to your phone, and I decided to wait.
Basically, I'm just looking for a flash based player functionality for when I work out so that I wont have to carry 2 devices with me, but if the capacity is miniscule, I might just get the sony/ericson swivel thing, a\t least it has a slot for more memory.
If anyone knows about the razr, tho, let me know...

Siemens and Perfect in the same sentence... 😱
Let's see what the future brings for BenQ after all.
But Siemens... 🙄 .
Moto's GUI sucks (IMO). Nokia and SE have a big advantage already.

Why are cell phone makers so thick in the head? And why are U.S carriers even more thick in the head? Seems like only Asia knows how to do it right.

I am with you guys, I'm on the fence with iTunes phone/V3/??. Apple has spoiled us. Buying a cell phone is like falling into the abyss.
