Why is this story getting so many negative reviews?

Think of it as Agree/Disagree. Many people don't agree with the list.

Hipstamatic - You love it or you hate it.
Plants vs. Zombies - Ok choice, but the iPhone version is dumbed down compared to other versions. RD support would have helped.
Flipboard - Great concept, but still a bit of a work in progress.
Osmos for iPad - fun but very basic game that lacks longevity.

I thought PvZ looked lame. Then I bought it for the iPad to take on a trip. I was instantly addicted. I don't think I looked up from the game a single time during a 4-hour flight. The "prepare for landing" announcement came over the speaker and I was like "Huh? What? Already???"

Truly a phenomenal game. Far better than Angry Birds or Cut the Rope (I have both) in my opinion. Replay value is immense. I also have it for my iPhone but haven't yet tried it on the smaller screen. The app really shines on the iPad.

Oh, Carcassone is also beautifully designed, though I'm not quite grasping the strategy yet (I've never played the board game but ordered it for the family for Christmas). Where and when to place Meeples continues to baffle me. I win sometimes but don't know how. I imagine I'll get the hang of it. I hope.

I'm pretty sure that all three of those games were released in 2009

You may be right for Doodle Jump & Minigore..Not sure for Angry Birds...I kind f forgot the 2010 only rank thing. I just downloaded PvZ...Not bad at all.

I've always wondered how AppShopper isn't a violation of the affiliate terms and conditions, which clearly states that a site cannot:

"Violate any intellectual property rights, including, without limitation, scraping text or images from Apple's Websites or the iTunes Store."

Is that not exactly what AppShopper does - descriptive copy word-for-word, screenshots, and icon?

I would assume it's because AppShopper drives sales of apps in the app store.

App store editors must have picked via a drunk darts game or two. The "winner" seem like "honorable mention" or "runner up".

Some people will disagree with Apple's selections, some don't think this is front page worthy, some just like pushing negative.

Yeah, I wondered why there are so many negatives rated on this article? What would be the point?

I'm tired of Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, PvZ, etc. The only game I can never seem to tire from is Tilt to Live which is one of the games I feel have implemented the accelerometer the best. Oh, and Robot Unicorn Attack is always fun! haha

I would assume it's because AppShopper drives sales of apps in the app store.

But it doesn't drive sales.

Legal method: Place iTunes link in MacRumors story >>> Direct to iTunes. 30% of app revenue.

Arn's method: Place AppShopper link in MacRumors >>> Direct to AppShopper >>> Direct to iTunes. Same 30% of app revenue plus advertising revenue from AppShopper for skimming iTunes material (descriptions, icons, screenshots).

Don't knock PvZ until you've played it. It's actually quite amusing and entertaining.

Em's "Recovery" album is great too, on another note. Though obviously it's going to gather quite a bit of hate as it's not everyone's cup of tea. Ride the wave of popularity while ya can!

I would have thought Angry Birds would have won game of the year, everybody i know has it.

I disagree with you

So what? It's a washed-out grainy picture of a dog. My 4 year old took one of those with her Fisher Price digital camera.
