'iTunes Rewind' Highlights the Best of 2010

Angry Birds does seem like the obvious choice. Though PvZ is an excellent example of a game that is actually improved by being on a touchscreen device.

Off topic, but I really wish angry birds had a "mirror mode" where you launch the birds from the right instead if the left. Seems like it would be pretty easy to do, but maybe I'm the only person that wants the ability to do that.

So what? It's a washed-out grainy picture of a dog. My 4 year old took one of those with her Fisher Price digital camera.

Some people just don't get it. What app would be better for the iphone camera than one that replicates lenses from a time gone by? It's about appreciating photography not about doing what the phone already does.

Plants vs Zombies? Ehh, good game(my friends (guys) play that game every lunch on iPod touch with a lot of people watching) but the graphics aren't good. The colors look like old technology, and not retina display ready.

We're on Apple's 2010 Rewind list. Featured on both US Top Paid as well as Top Grossing Entertainment category! Check out Gun Builder!

Nice to see Sleep Cycle alarm clock on the larger lists, it really picked up steam near the end of 2010.

I agree about Hipstamatic being an odd choice, I never get the appeal of tossing filters on my pictures.

Eminem is the artist of the year?

I'm so disappointed in America's listening audience.

And why is that? Eminem is an amazing lyricist, and I don't think I've seen anyone who can rhyme like him and at the same time tell a story in such a detailed and graphic way. If you don't like the content of his music, that is fine, but the man's a great lyricist.

Plants vs Zombies really does shine on the iPad. Best game for the iPad. I have it for the iPhone too but it just isn't as good.

Agreed. I haven't been able to listen to him since he started making tunes aimed at 15 year olds. Much much better rappers out there. You wouldn't even have to further than the city hes from to find a few. Surely the Beatles would be artist of the year (if the announcement had been sooner) :p

Got it on my mac the other day. Can see why its popular

Why is this story getting so many negative reviews?
It's a "best of" list. It will be rated down by everyone who doesn't agree with the list results. Especially the people who hate what was chosen.

Yeah, I wondered why there are so many negatives rated on this article? What would be the point?
What's the point of "best of" lists to begin with. They really aren't what's the best of a given group of whatever. They are what the people who wrote the list think is best. What makes their opinion any more "correct" than the thousands of people who are reading it?

Usually these types of "looking back at the last year" lists are more the style of lazy journalists and television personalities.

I think there could have been better choices here!

Cut the Rope, Angry Birds!?!

IDK maybe it's just me but i didn't really find PvZ that entertaining.

I agree. He is an amazingly talented individual. However, I just find it strange that Apple crowned an artist, whose trademark is crude, vulgar, offensive, and violent lyrics, as their Artist of the Year. Kinda hypocritical consider they don't allow crude, vulgar, offensive, and violent content into the App Store.

PvZ is my fave game on the iPad. I'm an Angry Birds addict but haven't played since I downloaded PvZ.

Angry Birds is addictive but not very fun (like Sudoku or heroin). PvZ is both.

Couldn't agree with this more, especially the lazy journalist part. These list stories practically write themselves.

No use in removing my /care comment, just saying this "rumor" isn't needed on the front page

PvZ- the name says it all.......

and other gaming?- i have lost all my hope/trust in mankind

godzilla saves us all

:D

edit- add 500 million+ braindead farcebook addicts

Did Labyrinth 2 not come out in 2010? I'm sure it did. At the very least it would win a 'most improved' category.

Unlike most games developers they didn't just blow up the same game to iPad resolution - they took the bigger size and made a far more complex game.

I can't really knock the whole 'top XX list' concept since we do it ourselves at the end of the year shows, but... Hipstamatic? Really? I never saw the appeal of apps like that at all. If you're going to have an 'App of the Year' and a 'Game of the Year', why the heck would you choose a photography app that's essentially like playing a game with your photos? Some of their other choices aren't bad- but I really have to wonder what they were thinking (or how much they got paid :p) when they chose it.

The Game of the Year though, I can't wholly disagree/argue with PvZ- when it first came out I played the heck out of it too, and still go back to it sometimes. It is a LOT of fun to play, even if I like Angry Birds Seasons (the Advent Calendar thing is brilliant...) or Game Dev Story more at the moment and has a broad appeal and sold VERY well.

+1

Also, if you are gonna have a "Best of...", surely the only objective way to do it would be to rate them based on number of copies sold in 2010, basing it on anything else, like you say is gonna be so subjective that it's bound to start an argument as everyone will have their own "best" list... I agree, the whole thing is just plain daft IMHO

They may not allow it in the App Store but they do allow it in the Music Store seeing as though they sell Eminem's entire catalogue. So it's not really hypocritical in that sense, but I guess it's hypocritical that they sell offensive content in one section of their store and not another.

Yeah, it's sorta like Walmart refusing to sell certain albums with offensive/violent lyrics, but one can walk in and buy a gun in a little as 15 minutes. That's America for you.
