Hey everyone, I just came to tell everyone I found out from a super secret source that there's a MEDIA EVENT TODAY!!! This is brand new exclusive news I just found out!! I wouldn't be surprised if the iTunes Music Store went down at some point, either. You heard it here first!

I won't bother to read the rest of the thread because I am sure I am the only one who has found out this information.

;) :p

I know people get really excited before Apple events, but people should still please make a quick check to see if something has been said one or a few hundred times first before posting.
Yeah OKAY...lets read 250 posts when they are continually piling up at a rate of at least 5 per minute.

Yes, the repeated "I just found this great info" post of old thread news is distracting, but there have been more "old news, please read the thread" responses than the others!

Please, please, please, DON'T respond to the "I just found this great info" posts.

I don't think it was said but this is confirmation that the Canadian ITMS is down as well. I would be happy with a movie store available in Canada as well as the tv shows and a hardware solution to stream music and movies directly to my home entertainment system that has good quality and is reliable.

Who wants to make a bet that if they release such hardward, it won't support things like streaming AVIs or WMVs? :)

Since they are shutting down the iTunes store so early, I think it is because they are going to do major changes to the store interface.

If they were just adding movies, it would not need to be down for 5 hours.

not true....last year they introduced the nano before the student rebate was over with the mini.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't. But I just read that I was wrong. But I'm pretty confident that they won't do it this year.

Hmmmmm

My predictions:

2. New iPods. Wide-screen iPod with 720x480 resolution, perfect for wide-screen DVD quality movies. Touch interface. New Nano's, all-metal casing, 4 colors, up to 8GB. All available starting today.

720x480 is standard definition resolution. If they were to release a widescreen ipod with that resolution it would look all stretched out. So try again pal.

Well with the thread moving at a pace of over 15 posts a minute I guess that could prove be a lil difficult sometimes.:D

I mean those who are posting in the thread from the beginning sure do know whats going on but for the latecomers reading 10 pages and 200 comments is extermely difficult. And just in case you do finish all of them you`ll find out 5 more pages have been added by the time you reach page 10:D

Getting tired of posting that? Someone should make sure that it says it on the front page of the site.

By the way, that would be 8 AM Hawaii. That is if I did the time right.

If the iTunes Music Store is going to be called the iTunes Store (iTMS > iTS?) then shouldn't the name iTunes change as well to coincide with the change in available media?

Baby steps. Apple has a TON of intellectual goodwill in the iTunes brand, but taking MUSIC out of iTunes Music Store is a good step.

There was a story circulating last week that phasing the use of "iTunes" into some other brand would be a gradual process of toning down the emphasis on music on the front page, creating separate tabs for different types of content, and rebranding it sometime in mid to late 2007.

Actually, for most of the world running PAL, SD is 720 x 576. Try again pal! ;-)

480 vertical lines = Standard Definition

720x480 would show a 16:9 DVD quality video very well, no DVD is higher than that resolution so there would either be small bands on the top and bottom or larger bands on the side for 4:3 format videos. Wouldn't look stretched out at all, don't know what that other guy's on about.
