iFun = yes, iToner=no

All ringtones I've added with iFuntastic have stayed. iToner ringtones are gone.

You've got some victim issues...

No, it's called respecting people. If you wouldn't say to my face, don't say it behind a keyboard. People seem to take a lot of liberties behind those shiny screens and keyboards, but when it's all said and done, show some respect when you address people, it is as simple as that.

$.99 ringtones

$2 for a ringtone sucks, but it's still LESS than many companies have charged--and those companies don't give you the WHOLE song to keep and play as well for your $2.

Was just listening to the latest MacNotables Podcast and Chuck Joiner was saying that ringtones are only $.99. It's only $2 if you want to create a ringtone AND own the song as well. In fact, from the podcast, the advantage of owning the song is that you can change the location or edit the ringtone anytime you want after paying the $.99 ringtone fee. Apparantely, if you don't want to purchase the entire song, you can make the ringtone for $.99, you just can't go back and change it again without paying another $.99 or just buying the song outright.

Have to verify this when the feature is turned on but that makes complete sense given that there are many pre-existing ringtones on the iTunes store already. These are files that are from 10-30 seconds in length. Additionally, there are hundreds of sound effects files on the iTunes store that could also be used as ringtones.

So, the rumor that ringtones cost $1.98 may not be specifically true depending on the way you buy ringtones from the store.

not sure if this has already been covered (not gonna look through 300 posts) but...

it says on apple's website that os X 10.4.10 is required for the iPod touch. iTunes 7.4 supports the iPod touch and is campitable with os X 10.3.9. anybody know why this is the case? thanks.

Rating albums?

I'm not ashamed to say that I don't feel like reading all the way through this thread, but I do have a question that I can't find.

In the keynote it was mentioned that there is now the possibility to rate whole albums. Has anyone used that feature? How does it work, and how do you do it?

Thanks for any info?

You can now insert an Album Rating column in the display of songs. The album rating appears to be computed automatically as the average of the ratings of each individual song, excluding songs you haven't rated.

Edit: I learned from forum member tkidBOSTON that you can also rate albums independently of their songs by going to Album View and clicking the star rating under the album artwork.

Sorry if it was covered but I don't want to read all of it. But can you use the rington feature to make ringtones out songs you haven't purchased from iTunes?

10.3.9 runs iTunes 7.4, but NOT the new iPods, essentially Apple supports the software for Panther (10.3), but hardware (iPods) after this month's refresh+iPhone are NOT supported. Check the system requirements for the touch. Note 10.4.10 is required.

It is also now possible to view videos in the iTunes windows itself, which is very nice and much more integrated.
