I feel like a hypocrite in saying this but with so long waiting and so much focus on the iPhone and laptops I am starting to get why everyone thinks Apple doesn't care for things outside of the toy world. Hanging by a thread, If the iMac comes out in October I will decide, if not PC all the way lol

I am so close to giving up on apple

I have waited over 9 months now for the new iMac. I can understand Apple users being happy to wait but this would be my very first Apple desktop. It makes no sense for apple not to allow some information to be released to keep the growing band of potential 1st time users away from renewing/updating their PCs. I've emailed Apple support about this and I beg all you potential buyers like me to do the same. Will we make a difference? I don't know, but it helped me feel better expressing my frustration at Apple.

I have my eyes on a Lenovo Ideacentre A720 now and if apple want my money, they are going to have to hurry before i go elsewhere!

No monitor? I want to build my own too...do the connecting wires come with the parts or do i need to buy them separately?

I did the same. I freaking love it. Windows 7 is for work, my mac laptop is for web surfing (not so much anymore since I won a Nexus 7).

My 3d programs are super fast in the viewport and in rendering. I never have to ask "When is the mac version coming out?" on 3d plugin discussions. I use the full wired mac keyboard with Bootcamp drivers to have all of my volume controls and such work in Windows.

Windows 7 did inspire me to get BetterSnapTool off of the mac app store for all of my macs.

I love computers, love Windows 7. I don't want to touch Windows 8, though. Ugh.

Coming next is a small gaming build for Steam TV. 1080p 60 fps on my couch with a 360 controller and the latest video card. Can't wait.

You're going to love Windows 7. I can't say enough good about it. It's got everything I need, runs smooth, and man did I save a ton of money over a mac pro.

Pretty nice specs for the price. I will wait though, I just don't like Windows anymore.

I will add that to my short list of alternatives though.

Joke or not,if no 2012 Imac shows up i won't buy a RetinaMBPro
but a classic one,i mean,soldered Ram... and just 512Mb
in the entry classic ..this is sad.

I would go Windows if ONLY there was a mail client that could handle Exchange + IMAP and work as well as Apple Mail. Outlook is a sorry excuse of a mail client if you have any IMAP accounts.

I agree. Apple is on it's way down. All good things must come to an end. I think their cloud solution is a joke. Can't store Word docs in iCloud unless they go through Pages etc.? Microsoft's stock is up in my book...

It's funny that people here bash Apple for lack of attention to non-mobile computers. Haven't you seen what M$ is going to do with windows 8? They are trying to force a tablet UI on desktop computers. Good luck with that. At least Apple thinks that Mac and touch devices should be separate. Microsoft will just create one giant mess.

Have fun using your third grade products. :p

Don't think so,Windows8 is a serious threat, just wait and see.

Agreed, if all of you want Windows products go ahead and get them. This is a MAC forum, go to a windows forum, so you can discuss, how to get rid of viruses, and download more drivers and service packs, and all that other nonsense. lol.

Attitudes such as this turn more people off Macs than almost anything else. Its a discussion forum, not the Hitler Youth.

Really, I always thought the machine spoke for itself? What does my personal opinions of people bashing Apple and wanting a windows machine, have to do with the machine itself and what it may or may not do for an individual?

On several software developer forums, you can observe the trend that at least indie developers are moving away from both Apple AND Microsoft. Apparently, a growing number of technical people don't like where both companies are headed and decided to give the Linux platform a shot - just like Valve, who are currently porting Steam and the Source engine to Ubuntu Linux.

Ironically, at work we use Ubuntu Linux and are very worried about where Ubuntu is going (specifically, the new UI seems to take the worst features of OS X and Windows 8 for an environment that is only novice friendly).

If you have any common sense your most likely not to get virus' (I haven't gotten any) and the 10.X.X updates to OS X are just Apple's version of service packs.

It's sad that people blame each other on a discussion forum. I know this is a mac forum, but at least you should better listen to the opinion of other people,
if you don't want to listen, then just shut up and open a topic of things that you should be interested in. And sorry for my bad English, i know.
But i speak dutch.

Back on topic,

I saw windows 8 on a laptop of a friend of mine. He can test it and he seems to love it to. I was a affraid that after the nice windows 7, there will be back a bad OS. I used to love Xp,but then vista was horrible. Windows 7 is really nice, so i keep my eyes wide open.

The fact that apple seems to push away there desktop users, has opened for me another way of thinking. Apple is more and more becoming a gadget brand. The hype around the (new) iphone is so ridiculous!
I know that they earn tons of money with it. But at least they can release a new desktop with USB 3.0, ivy bridge, better performance and a much better graphic card.

It's so frustrating that they don't even say a word about a possible release.
After more than 500 days with the old imac, they can at least say something about a possible upgrade. It's always, iphone, ios, retina, ipad,...
But never about a decent computer. This is not a computerbrand anymore but a ****in hype!

It's absolutely true that they are still better in rendering fonts and design stuff. But one of these days i want to test CS6 on a windows. And if it pleases me, i'm sure i gonna buy it. Today i saw the ASUS n76 with the same graphic card(2gb), the same processor, 2tb, 8gb ram, full hd ips for only 1150 euro. I can upgrade this also with ssd.

So if apple is losing their clients, you know what they've done wrong.
This can't be a toy factory!!!

Before anyone complains about this being here, I have been an iMac user for a long time now. The majority of my posts here on MR have been in the iMac section as well.

Yesterday I went ahead and ordered all the parts to build my own Windows desktop. I know, I should have at least waited until next month before I did, but I need something now and I was not going to be buying any of the current Macs. But while I have been checking this and other forums daily for bits of news on a *possible* refresh, it hit me. Why the hell am I revolving my life around a computer company? Especially one that doesn't seem to care enough about a loyal customers needs.

I am disappointed in the new iPhone, I am greatly disappointed in the new iOS update... and I could not be more disappointed in Apple's lack of respect for their non-mobile customers. Customers that have been using Macs for over 10 years. I also did not like Lion and think Mountain Lion is the worst version of OS X there is.

Combine all that with the fact that I just built a $1500 computer that will absolutely run circles in any configuration of a current iMac (and I am betting anything they are *possibly* about to release for that matter), and here we are.

I am not giving up on Apple completely. I will trial run this computer for a good half a year. If I really find it isn't for me, I can always sell the parts and return to the Mac fold... but for now, I just want to try something different.

Anyway, just my story of how Apple lost a potential iMac customer. I wholly expect the "cool story, bro"'s and the "good riddance" posts. But I just wanted to get it off my chest.

I cannot understand why a company like apple is going to change their schedule to update hardware because some of you don't know what you want, not satisfy with anything or you dont know where to spent your money. When they upgrade too quickly their hardware you yelling(Mac Pro)when they delay same thing. Are your computer demands higher than iMac mid-2011 i7 not cover you? I have mid 2010 iMac i7 and use it for professional AVC-Intra HD video editing and it exceed my needs.
We are tired of new 2012 iMac topics get it?

Whatever floats your boat. It's your computer, it's your life, etc.

I could tell you that moving to Windows from OS X is crazy, a bad decision, you will hate it, etc. but in reality those are only my own opinions, how I would perceive such a change - I am not you.

So, by all means enjoy your new computer. If you miss OS X and Macintosh, you know where to find them.
