The best thing about predictions is that if you make enough of them, eventually, one will turn out being correct.

That said, I do have some of my own predictions...through my analysis and contacts within the industry, I believe that Apple will release an updated iPhone in 2015 in the September and October timeframe. The specifics aren't clear just yet but they will likely be adding some features, including an updated processor.

Has anyone discussed how this design keeps from spinning endlessly on the wrist? Or do we believe that a gyroscope always keeps the focus "up?" (And in that case, what if you're lying down? Do we need a switch to lock orientation?)

Also, most of us aren't going to want a plastic-y bangle hitting our desks as we type all day long.

This design can't be right.
...the concept shown isn't a screen all the way around the wrist ...

Nobody wants an iWatch

Everyone will look silly using the same watch.

Only nerds like people wearing google glass in public will use it

Tech gear must be attractive

Human nature doesn't like a watch that everyone has people.

Apple must know this hence many iterations

They aren't there yet IMO

Interchangeable bands, bezels, cases, etc. with different colors, patterns and materials. Yeah, everybody will have the same watch.

Nobody wants an iWatch

Human nature doesn't like a [fill with anything you like, maybe the latest gadget] that everyone has.

This may be true to some degree but (I doubt it, nonetheless!) most people wouldn't care if this is "the new thing". And it will be "the new thing" squared. Hopefully its more affordable than the iPhone so the market does not get "flooded with demand" of this new gadget.

I want a watch if it does useful things. Am I nobody? People don't mind using the same phone - this will be a similar thing. It can be attractive without being highly unique, and people will want to wear them.

I’m a _somebody_ who’s very interested in this product too :)

Plus, we may see a design that’s very modular, so with a change of the case and/or band/bracelet, combined with a customizable [digital] face, there will be thousand of variants.

I think Apple is pretty smart about understanding the “fashion” element of a watch[-like] device.

You guys do realize that Apple already registered the name iWatch in several countries already. So I think at this point a done deal it's going to be called iWatch. Other wise why to through all the trouble to register the name.

Then again they could be doing that to throw everyone off lol

Do you realize that registering trademarks means absolutely nothing? Apple has registered hundreds if not thousands of trademarks, the vast majority of which never see the light of day. For the same reason many were totally convinced that the iPad would be called the "iSlate." Never mind that the name was so obviously terrible, even worse than "iWatch" (which is also pretty awful).

Sounds like they're trying to better position themselves against Samsung's triad of the Galaxy S phone, Galaxy Note phone, and the Galaxy Gear watch, which is smart as Samsung has not totally sucked in their marketing of these devices in the way that others have.

Wish we could see some parts. If the iWatch is going to be made, Apple has done a good job keeping it under wraps.

I would love a watch that interacts with my phone, but I hope it's not super expensive (although I'm sure it will be). I usually purchase cheap watches because my various sporting activities wreck havoc on them.

They'll need to do a big marketing push by having celebrities be "spotted" wearing them (unfortunately). Most people follow the herd and will only buy one if it seems socially acceptable/cool. Apple has an uphill battle here, it is by no means a guaranteed home run. A phone sits in your pocket, a watch sits on your wrist for everyone to gawk at...

If only Apple had a senior executive with experience in the fashion industry...

Something coming in September..... No way!!!!!

These analysts are good!!!

Totally agree. As a man, can't see myself wearing something like that. Even though it's just a mock up, I can't see beyond this:

You are funny thinking you speak for all men. Me, also as a man, I see a black band with color screen (which I presume would return to black like a fuel band when not in use. It looks nothing like the flourished bracelets you posted.

Personally, I wouldn't wear something like that because it's bad design. It looks too complicated and cumbersome -- the opposite of what a smart watch should be -- quick data, not endless fidgeting. If I want to fidget I'll pull out my phone.

I'm going to give Apple benefit of the doubt based on its history of ground breaking design that its not going to look anything like the picture on the front page or any of the other amateur hour concepts we've seen thus far.

You seem really insecure about your sexuality...Mustang.

Ha. My pink and purple toenails beg to differ (courtesy of my daughter).

Regardless of my sexuality, a bangle is mainly going to appeal to a woman. I could be wrong (no I'm not). It might appeal to some men (no it won't). Apple could give this a unisex appeal (no it cannot).

The only issue here is that iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite need to release at the same time. The iCloud features are dependent on each other, and you need both for the collaboration features.

I was thinking the same thing, though they could still release iOS 8 and say that Continuity features will become available when Yosemite hits the streets the following month or so.

Plenty of failed products have had celeb endorsements. That's not the key to longterm success. The key is to push out a great product from the start. If Apple's band is cool and useful people will buy it. Otherwise, for $200, they'll just look at [pick your celeb] wear theres just like their $10K dress or suit.

That is what people said last year and it didn't happen. Remember the photo thing for the Mac will be pushed to 2015. Apple tends to focus on the products that bring the most profit (iOS) first and the Macs are second class citizens.

I would like to see Yosemite launch on the same day as iOS 8. But Apple like to spread things out.

I couldn't agree more. Think of all the millions spent on cases and covers for phones. Sure, lots of people want to protect their phones, but it's just as much or even more so to personalize and differentiate from the tens of millions of other iphones out there.

I have a real hard time believing the general public will swoon to an iWatch. It sounds good at first, but I don't want a watch that millions of others are wearing that is the exact same thing. Watches are personal and funny that way (IMHO), so I'm not sure how this is all going to shake out for Apple.

They could certainly surprise me (as they have before), but by no means do I think this is going to be a sure fire hit.

Am I the only one who doesn't see anything wrong with the word 'iWatch'? It's Apple and it's a watch. iWatch. Like Apple and it's a phone... iPhone.

Though nothing will top the insta-reaction that the iPad got with jokes about menstrual products.

Still pretty skeptical of these "supply chain" sources. I'd suspect it will be rolled out like iPhone/iPad; an announcement with a 3-6mo lead for supply chain to gear up. I just don't think any supply chain "sources" are going to know jack.

Not sure what you read from my quote but your inner monologue interpreted it incorrectly. I specifically said "myself". In no way can that be misconstrued as speaking for all men. Unless I'm joking (as in my response to DriedTurnip) I tend to phrase all my quotes as personal opinion, relating to me only - see my tag. If someone agrees with my assessment, fine. If they don't, it's equally fine. I would just ask that you not attribute thoughts to me that didn't actually come from me.

As for the bracelets, the flourish was hyperbolic, the actual shape is spot on.
