Say No to the bracelet above.

I say YES to the bracelet. Some people already have a watch they don't want to not wear. I for one want the above design so i can carry on wearing my watch and on the wrist i can wear the bracelet. I personally think apple making something thats a watch takes out a whole section of possible sales from the market.

Nobody wants an iWatch

Everyone will look silly using the same watch.

Only nerds like people wearing google glass in public will use it

Tech gear must be attractive

Human nature doesn't like a watch that everyone has people.

Apple must know this hence many iterations

They aren't there yet IMO

Definitely, hopefully Apple is smart and will release a variety of styles.

I see major disappointment on the horizon. It's going to be an extremely fitness/health related product - which is fine but after all the hype I think a lot of people are expecting this amazing (or "magical") all-around gadget that will appeal to everyone.

Perhaps. I think they could sell health to many too though.

I'm only really interested in it as a health device, checking notifications/calls on a watch doesn't really interest me.

I don't know anyone who has, or would like to have, a Galaxy Gear watch. Too bulky and boring. Hope Apple can do a better job than that POS.

I've seen five in the past two weeks. Can't be doing THAT bad. It too is meant as a companion device; something that alleviates the need to take your phone out of your pocket to check texts and missed calls. Even for such a small amount of tasks, those are certainly useful ones.

maybe you are in SF or something but i've never seen one and i have 0 interest in that device.

Me, I love that bracelet design. I have "regular" looking watches with leather and metal bands (titanium even!) but that bracelet look seems more useful--more screen available to do stuff with. of course this assumes that they have gotten the curved display and circuit board tech right. Let the Moto360 be the "looks like a watch" product. if Apple's "Watch" looks like that, people will say that Apple copied Google/Motorola. Just my thoughts.

iWatch? . . . Na! Successful health monitoring device. . . Yep!

I don’t think it’ll be called “iWatch”. The only similarities it’ll have with a watch is that it’s is worn on the wrist and one of it’s abilities will be to tell the time.
My computer sit on my desk and has the ability to tell me the time, but i never call it an iClock. . .

I think it’ll be a serious bit of health monitoring tech that will literally, in the long run change the way we live. I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple give users the ability to (anonymously) upload our daily recorded data to pool it together with everyone else who will be using the device. The sort of insight into how to improve general health or causes to health issues would be massive. Knowing when people train, for how long, who gets the best results (lowest resting heart rate (LRHR)), why a certain city have great LRHR's, all sorts of trends!
I was looking at buying a Nike FB but thought i’d wait to see what Apple was going to do. Well the wait is over and I anticipate good thinks.

Was i said before, (over time) I think it will literally change how our health develops.

Fitbits look stupid on people

Apple hopefully will have many versions; I'm doubting this though. First launch??

If it's one watch then they're screwed.

It all depends, really, on what the iWatch can do at the end. If it's just an watch with a static design and that's it you might be right. But I doubt this is what Apple will come up with. I'm no youngster myself anymore, (42+), I don't have the real feeling with what youngsters like to "wear" these days. I don't see many youngsters wearing "hi tech" watches, like it was popular in the 80's when you could show of with a watch with (!!!) a calculator on it
But again, not sure if youngsters do wear watches these days.

:)

I'm not interested in "just a watch", to be honest, not wearing one either. I'm not sure if I'll be interested in wearing a device around my wrist all the time. But I am interested in a some kind of "watch" that would provide me with various health measurements when I'm training outside. I sport a lot so for me that would be the key element that could get my attention to this thing....

These are the watches which I find interesting... A lot of "watch guys" would too, I think.

Has anyone discussed how this design keeps from spinning endlessly on the wrist? Or do we believe that a gyroscope always keeps the focus "up?" (And in that case, what if you're lying down? Do we need a switch to lock orientation?)
...the concept shown isn't a screen all the way around the wrist ...
Same question remains: what keeps the "screen" portion of the bangle aimed at the user?

Do people want to spin the thing so they can find the screen every time they get a message?

I haven't liked these watches since the rumors started flying in. I will say the latest iteration is kinda cool and I can see a use for it. I still think I may feel foolish wearing one, but may still buy one nonetheless.

Do you realize that registering trademarks means absolutely nothing? Apple has registered hundreds if not thousands of trademarks, the vast majority of which never see the light of day. For the same reason many were totally convinced that the iPad would be called the "iSlate." Never mind that the name was so obviously terrible, even worse than "iWatch" (which is also pretty awful).

Did you even read the last line I wrote lol. I could be right or I could be wrong. But from all the things we have hared I think the iWatch is pretty much going to be the name. But then again you do bring up a good point like when the 4s came out everyone thought it was going to have 4g lte support and it didn't, so who's to say. Apple can do what ever they want at this point. And on a side note I rather like the name (iWatch) imo.

I sure did, but you keep returning to the idea that iWatch is going to be the name. Keep in mind that everything we've heard so far is not from Apple. The rumor community invented that name, for no good reason.

It wasn't a no good reason it was the fact that apple reregistered the name. And by the way I have admitted that I could b wrong so lay off.

The trademark was registered by Apple only recently, as far as anyone knows. It was used in connection with wearables rumors long before that happened, or at least before the trademark became known. Since this is my entire point, I don't see any reason for laying off.

They won't have to if it's a pretty discrete device aimed at health rather than fashion.

True, though if you want to actually take a bite of the watch wearer market, it does need to be a fashion item. That's what watches are predominantly about these days.

They cannot possibly replace the real watches (above $10000) which are more like pieces of art.

I don't think that's the direction they should go after.

I'm not in SF and really your opinion (as well as my opinion for that matter) is entirely irrelevant. Market opinion is all that matters. And obviously companion devices are selling.

Production of components for Apple's iWatch is reportedly starting later this month, leading to speculation by Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White that the device will see a launch as soon as September alongside the iPhone 6.White believes the iWatch will be available at several pricing increments much like the iPhone and the iPad, indicating that prices could start at $199 to $229 to compete with other smart watches currently on the market.

Several other rumors have pointed towards a fall launch for the iWatch, with KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicting a third quarter launch, which has also been echoed by various Asian news sources including the Economic Daily News and Digitimes. Apple is also likely aiming for a fall launch for its 4.7-inch iPhone 6, which could see the two devices unveiled together.

Little physical information has surfaced on the iWatch thus far, but supply chain rumors have suggested the device will come in two separate sizes (1.3 inches and 1.5-1.7 inches) to accommodate different sized wrists. It is also said to include a multitude of biometric sensors to measure various health metrics and it is also expected to interface with the new Health app in iOS 8.

White also believes that the 5.5-inch iPhone, which was rumored to be delayed due to production issues, could launch alongside the 4.7-inch iPhone and the iWatch. He released a report detailing his reasons yesterday and today confirms that research is "uncovering more evidence that the 5.5- inch iPhone 6 will launch this fall."

Having previously predicted seemingly outlandish products such as the "iRing" able to control an Apple television set, Brian White does not have a particularly solid track record when it comes to predicting Apple's plans, but with multiple rumors converging on a fall release date for both the iWatch and the two versions of the iPhone, it is possible we will see all three products before the end of the year.

that looks expensive. And bangle-ish. I don't see how they can compete with 'normal' watches, even with all the cool features. The design is immensely flawed.
