An iWatch-only App Store? It doesn’t make sense to me. Installing an app on the iPhone should automatically display a new widget/app/watch face on the iWatch, not differently from Notification Center widgets in iOS 8.

I agree - the 'parent'-app on the iPhone should handle the installation of the iWatch-app (much like it works today with Samsungs Gear), and not require a separate install to be done by the user.

You're presuming it will use the same interface and types of apps as the iPhone. I doubt very much that's the case.

Almost everyone who buys an iWatch will also own an iPhone (or other smartphone) and have both with them all the time. Not much point in just making it a secondary screen.

I have to say, this is the least expected or surprising news about the iWatch. Of course it will run apps..

Yeah, but to have already seeded some developers with an sdk IS relevant news. I kinda figured they would have an app or 2 to show off, but I didn't think it would've been a 3rd party considering how secretive this device has been.

I am just super psyched for Tuesday. Haven't been this excited since 07!!

I love watches. Tissot is currently my fav.
We shall see what apple can do. I wish it was 1k+ so I know it's quality and has a depth range of 30+ meters for diving too.

I don't see it being that high priced. This will be a mass market item, selling tens of millions.

Wow, so useful instead of making proper laptops.

I can buy a real watch from a lot of companies. A Mac I can only buy from Apple.

By that flawed logic...

You can buy a laptop computer from a lot of companies. An iWatch we can only buy from Apple.

Yeah, cause you know exactly how the iWatch will work. Maybe you should let people who've actually used the device (which right now is Apple) decide?

This is a rumours website. Which implies speculation and discussion. I've also gone through your profile. All you do is attack people in a way to belittle them.

Doesn't have to use same interface. I think what he meant is like how you can download an iPhone app and it'll add a Passbook card for you. Similar concept... download app on iPhone and it will beam over the iWatch app automatically. It's an interesting thought.

Yes, that's fine - if the app is designed that way. But there's no reason not to have apps designed specifically for the watch.

Are you being mildly sarcastic in hoping it costs more than an iPad? I hope so.

I currently wear a €200 Seiko watch. It has an alleged 100M diving range (maybe only good for <50M in reality) and feels incredibly strong and reliable. I've had it for over 6 years now and I still love it.

Why on earth would it have to be over $1000 to be "good quality"?

Price dictates nothing. Did you know in the sneaker industry, the most expensive possible sneaker to make should have a retail price of $200 to make a profit? But as you know there are many sneakers that cost much more than this. Why? Because of people that spend more money for "higher quality" who in fact know nothing about the production and manufacturing process of the item in question.

More $$$ does not automatically mean good (or even well built) product.

Because a quality watch lasts a lifetime. I don't mind spending that much if I don't have to upgrade it every 3 years.

This is a new category, it's no longer a phone.

What you want is certain Swiss manufacturers to add sensors to certain models.

It is happening, but maybe they try it first with the Swatch brand, although I would not rule out Tissot, given their touch models.

Hope it does have a NFC chip and can be used with iphine 5s for those of us who don't want to upgrade to a larger screened iphone 6 and so non NFC iPhone users can still make payments using it, not the phone.

I just wonder how the input interface is designed. I can't imagine having Twitter and FB notification on the wrist and having to pick up, unlock, start the app, and then finally write on my phone.

Such people were fools. Withings has already done this. What Apple does will be different/better, otherwise there would be no point in Apple doing it. Makes sense?

except for the whole array of sensors and integration with health kit and home kit that only an apple made watch would have... These rumors are flying like crazy right now and NONE of these people have any actual knowledge of the product I'm sure. I still believe the watch will not have a touchscreen or apps. There will undoubtedly be apps for the iPhone that can pull data from the watch however.

How about a new version of Siri that is actually useful?

How about a new version of Siri that is actually useful?

I was actually thinking about that today. I was wondering what the chances are the the tagline "we wish we could say more" has to do with voice commands via the watch and a complete Siri overhaul that they wanted to wait to reveal until after the watch was announced because it would have given away clues about the watch....

probably not the case but the thought crossed my mind.

Siri is already incredibly useful for hundreds of millions of iOS users.

People are using it for twitter, facebook, making calls, setting alarms, setting timers, reading email/voicemail/messages, sending new email/voicemail/messages, to get directions, checking the weather forecasts, checking stocks, checking sports results, the list goes on and on and on.

I'm not denying it may not be useful for you. But for me, Siri is probably one of the incredible technologies Apple has ever given us.
