The Pages menu still says "Try iWork...", but it's greyed out. It did that in 08 as well.

Bugs me.

Is that functionality any different from export? You're still saving a copy, not the original file, right?

Just noticed that it says "save copy as". Good point.

Also, the export function (with PDF capability) is still available under the Share menu.

I have iWork '08, and I just downloaded the demo of '09, I probably won't buy it for a while. Does anyone know if I install '09 will it remove '08?

When you setup iWork '09 it will install into a new subfolder in Applications called iWork '09, so it will not overwrite your existing installations of iWork.

Anyone playing with iWork '09 know if the following was added from '08, and I know this is nitpicky, but I would love a ruler display down the vertical edge of my word processing docs in Pages. I know a horizontal ruler can appear when rulers are displayed '08, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to install one on the left vertical edge. If I am missing something here and it is available in '08, please someone tell me I am an idiot and advise how I can do it. Otherwise, let me know if it was added in '09.

From Pages '09...

Suit yourself. I rarely find a feature I wish was in Pages, and I've used it in my business every day for years. I am delighted not have to use the so-called "industry standard."

I agree.

Of course, to each his own, and there is no right or wrong to which office suite to use. It's a personal choice.

But I love iWork because it is easier for me to make beautiful documents that persuade and educate. Plus, the apps are getting super refined. MSOffice to me was always bloated and tacky.

I was a big fan of iWork 08, and the new update looks killer. I am very excited to try it out.

Well, I take what I said back. Just found a horrendous bug in Pages after using the full-screen mode. After sleeping in that mode, it was impossible to select the window or do anything with it! The dock disappeared behind the Pages window and even force quitting was hellish procedure.

This is very much beta guys! I would not trust this on a presentation or anything mission-critical until after Apple updates the software.

My favorite software in iWork and the only one I seem to use is none other then Keynote, it rocks, it kicks PP butt like nobody business. I can make a presentation slide that will make people jaw dropped in like 5 minutes while this might take forever on PP, in fact it might not even be possible to do such effect on PP. Try combining multiple animations to make a complex animation on PP, see how long that will take ya compared to Keynote.

I dun use Pages or Numbers cause I find that I need to use Word or Excel to transfer documents to lecturers and such. I dont care if they cant see my Keynote animation on PowerPoint cause like someone stated, I did the hard part which is to make the presentation impressive and professionally designed!
Im interested to see how usable is iWork.com in sharing your presentation slides to your friends for commenting. I wonder how complex "animations" is available to be seen.
